Lima Engine Plant Receives $500 Million Investment from Ford

WESTLAND, Mich - The Lima Engine Plant Receives a $500 Million Investment from Ford Motor Company, which will be put to good use for plant updates and the additional 300 new jobs that will be created to help with production of the all-new 2.7-liter EcoBoost® for the 2015 Ford F-150. Since 2010, the new EcoBoost engine's demand has grown over 600 percent; the F-150 can be credited for 91 percent of this growth. As Ford customers continue to demand the EcoBoost engines, the Ohio Plant engineers will work hard to meet their needs. The Lima Engine Plant is ready to put production for the latest and most technologically advanced engine in full force. 

Currently, the Lima Engine Plant produces 3.5-liter and 3.7-liter Duratec® V6 engines for various Ford vehicles -this includes the Edge and Explorer utilities, the Lincoln MKZ crossover, MKT utility and MKZ sedan.  The $500 million investment will be used to add a flexible engine assembly system as well as to renovate 700,000 square feet of the plant for the addition of other machining and assembly functions. For the past 60 years, Lima Engine has helped keep Ford and Lincoln vehicles running strong. Adding the production of the 2.7-liter to the Ohio facility will make for a solid future for both Ford Motor Company and the engineers.

Customers will get a complete package of power and performance in their F-150 thanks to the 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine. This EcoBoost uses standard Auto Start-Stop technology that will improve the F-150's performance and overall efficiency. The 2.7-liter EcoBoost also has some fine tuning; specialized elements specifically for truck customers. When drivers are towing or using the four-wheel-drive mode, the Auto Start-Stop turns off the engine automatically when the vehicle is at a stop. The engine then restarts immediately as the driver releases the brake. From a performance standpoint, the engine's compacted graphite iron and aluminum engine block reduces weight and strengthens the truck where it is most necessary.

2015 Ford Mustang is Headed to the Top

WESTLAND, Mich - The 2015 Ford Mustang is Headed to the Top, the top of the Empire State Building that is. In celebration of a milestone birthday, the Ford Mustang will re-create an special event that is also having a 50 year anniversary. The 2015 Ford Mustang will be placed on display on the observation deck of the Empire State Building in New York City. On April 16-17, the Mustang will celebrate 50 years since the Mustang debuted at the 1964 World's Fair in New York. 

The all-new 2015 Ford Mustang is Headed to the Top of the Empire State Building, 86 stories to be exact. Mind you, taking a vehicle up to such heights is no easy task. There is no crane that can reach an 86 story building and the spire towering above the narrow observation deck makes helicopter delivery impossible. So how do they do it 50 years ago? Elevators, that's how. A prototype Mustang convertible was cut into three pieces, plus windshield, and placed in the elevators. So once again, Mustang engineers are "measuring twice and cutting once" to ensure that the Mustang will fit nicely within the Empire State Building's elevators. Once all of the pieces of the puzzle make it to the 86th floor, technicians will have less than six hours to reassemble the 2015 Ford Mustang. 

Empire State Building observation deck visitors can see the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang within a 54 hour time frame on April 16-17th from 8am to 2am. New Content Added to Ford Driving Skills for Life Program

WESTLAND, Mich - Out with the old and in with the new! As Ford Motor Company's unique educational driving program reaches its second successful decade, there is no better time to add some modern enhancements. New Content has been Added to Ford Driving Skills for Life Program to address dangerous trends and challenges that teen and new drivers will be facing as they head out on the road.

Ford is continuing to encourage safe driving habits with their "hands on the wheel, eyes on the road" philosophy, while also doing their best to keep new/teen driving engaged. Updating the curriculum was vital with all of the new and dangerous driving trends that drivers are partaking in. An entire segment has been added to address the fad of "driving selfies"; or when a driving is taking a self-portrait while behind the wheel. Ford will show drivers the distractions and dangers that is created by taking a selfie as they drive on a closed course.

Some of the other new content that has been added to the Ford Driving Skills for Life program tackles the dangers of impaired driving. As the numbers of drivers under the influence on the road increases, Ford felt it necessary bring this issue to new/teen drivers attention. A "drunk driving" suit will replicate similar challenges that a person faces when under the influences of alcohol. Weighted arms and legs will cause slow reaction times and improper balance for the student. This will show the new driver just how much one is physically impaired while under the influence and the hazards it causes behind the wheel. 

Since 2003, the Ford Driving Skills for Life program has been bringing new/teen drivers unique lessons that they would not learn in a typical drivers education class. Tips for "Spring Cleaning" Your Car

WESTLAND, Mich - In honor of the first day of spring being only a few days away, why not get in a "warm" state of mind? After this brutal winter, spring weather may seem like a distant thought, but soon enough we will be driving with the windows down! Along with the rest of your spring cleaning rituals, you cannot forget to give your car a good scrub down. We are here to give you some of our favorite Tips for "Spring Cleaning" Your Car. 

1. Rinse off the underbody. With all of the snow we have had this winter season, tons of salt, dirt and other grime has more than likely built up on the undercarriage of your vehicle. Leaving the build up can cause corrosion and rust issues, which in turn can make your vehicle very difficult to drive.

2. Replace your wiper blades. Surely you used your wiper blades a lot throughout the season and will continue to do so with upcoming "April showers".  Wiper blades get a work out during the winter, so be sure to replace them to avoid poor visibility. Remember - wiper blades cannot do the job on their own; fill up your washer fluid as well!

3. Check your tires. Us Michigan drivers know how rough the potholes are around town and the toll they take on our tires! It is important to keep on eye on the inflation of your tires as well as have a wheel alignment and/or a tire rotation done as part of your "spring cleaning". 

4. Clean your carpet. Between the snow, salt and slush, your carpets are probably a disaster! Use a carpet cleaner with a scrub brush on the end to get underneath the winter residue.

5. Go through your glovebox. Are you guilty of shoving everything into your glovebox and forgetting about it? Start spring by clearing out the glovebox and get all of that junk out of there! Be sure you don't throw away your proof of insurance and registration. Keep your documents in an easy-to-grab spot!

2016 F-650/F-750 Production Shifting to Ohio Plant

WESTLAND, Mich - Ford announced last Friday, March 7th, that 2016 F-650/F-750 Production will be Shifting to the Ohio Plant. Originally, the medium-duty trucks were produced at Ford's plant in Mexico, but are now transferring to Avon Lake, Ohio, near Cleveland, starting early next year. Ford's $168 million investment will go towards the retooling of the Ohio Assembly Plant for the medium-duty trucks - which currently produces the F-Series lineup of vans and other commercial vehicles. 

As you may have read in our "F-650/F-750 Join Lineup of America's Best-Selling Commercial Trucks", the 2016 medium-duty truck models are going to be the toughest, most work-ready, best value Ford medium-duty trucks of all time. Ford is confident that this outstanding work force will build these medium-duty trucks with only the highest quality, reliability, dependability and craftsmanship. Moving 2016 F-650/F-750 production medium-duty trucks to the Ohio plant will not only help secure a future for the workers at the facility, but also exercise Ford's expertise from other truck and commercial vehicle lines to give customers a better product at a competitive price. 

We can expect to see results of the 2016 F-650/F-750 production shifting to the Ohio Plant at the beginning of next year. The latest medium-duty trucks are expected to go on sale in the spring of 2015.

Ford and King Ranch's Celebration of 15 Successful Years
