Tips for "Spring Cleaning" Your Car

WESTLAND, Mich - In honor of the first day of spring being only a few days away, why not get in a "warm" state of mind? After this brutal winter, spring weather may seem like a distant thought, but soon enough we will be driving with the windows down! Along with the rest of your spring cleaning rituals, you cannot forget to give your car a good scrub down. We are here to give you some of our favorite Tips for "Spring Cleaning" Your Car. 

1. Rinse off the underbody. With all of the snow we have had this winter season, tons of salt, dirt and other grime has more than likely built up on the undercarriage of your vehicle. Leaving the build up can cause corrosion and rust issues, which in turn can make your vehicle very difficult to drive.

2. Replace your wiper blades. Surely you used your wiper blades a lot throughout the season and will continue to do so with upcoming "April showers".  Wiper blades get a work out during the winter, so be sure to replace them to avoid poor visibility. Remember - wiper blades cannot do the job on their own; fill up your washer fluid as well!

3. Check your tires. Us Michigan drivers know how rough the potholes are around town and the toll they take on our tires! It is important to keep on eye on the inflation of your tires as well as have a wheel alignment and/or a tire rotation done as part of your "spring cleaning". 

4. Clean your carpet. Between the snow, salt and slush, your carpets are probably a disaster! Use a carpet cleaner with a scrub brush on the end to get underneath the winter residue.

5. Go through your glovebox. Are you guilty of shoving everything into your glovebox and forgetting about it? Start spring by clearing out the glovebox and get all of that junk out of there! Be sure you don't throw away your proof of insurance and registration. Keep your documents in an easy-to-grab spot!

2016 F-650/F-750 Production Shifting to Ohio Plant

WESTLAND, Mich - Ford announced last Friday, March 7th, that 2016 F-650/F-750 Production will be Shifting to the Ohio Plant. Originally, the medium-duty trucks were produced at Ford's plant in Mexico, but are now transferring to Avon Lake, Ohio, near Cleveland, starting early next year. Ford's $168 million investment will go towards the retooling of the Ohio Assembly Plant for the medium-duty trucks - which currently produces the F-Series lineup of vans and other commercial vehicles. 

As you may have read in our "F-650/F-750 Join Lineup of America's Best-Selling Commercial Trucks", the 2016 medium-duty truck models are going to be the toughest, most work-ready, best value Ford medium-duty trucks of all time. Ford is confident that this outstanding work force will build these medium-duty trucks with only the highest quality, reliability, dependability and craftsmanship. Moving 2016 F-650/F-750 production medium-duty trucks to the Ohio plant will not only help secure a future for the workers at the facility, but also exercise Ford's expertise from other truck and commercial vehicle lines to give customers a better product at a competitive price. 

We can expect to see results of the 2016 F-650/F-750 production shifting to the Ohio Plant at the beginning of next year. The latest medium-duty trucks are expected to go on sale in the spring of 2015.

EPA Rates Ford Fiesta at 45mpg on Highway

WESTLAND, Mich. - The Ford Fiesta has already proven itself to be a favorite among American drivers - now however, it's about to become even more popular, as the EPA has rated the Ford Fiesta at 45 mpg on the highway!

The 2014 Ford Fiesta comes with a new 1.0-liter Ecoboost engine that allows the Fiesta to get the best highway fuel economy of any non-hybrid, gasoline-powered car! Its highway fuel economy clocks in at 45 mpg, with 32 in the city and 37 mpg in combined driving. These numbers are beyond fantastic since they are close to the fuel economy numbers seen on most hybrids and diesels - a feat that is impressive for a car powered by gasoline.

Along with saving you money on fuel, the Ford Fiesta's 1.0-liter Ecoboost engine also boasts a quiet and smooth ride. Although tiny and almost silent, it produces 123 hp and 125 lb.-ft. of torque - that's more power per liter than a Lamborghini Aventador! The Fiesta's new engine also features an overboost function that allows the driver to make more than 145 lb.-ft. for up to 15 seconds.

EPA rates the Ford Fiesta at 45 mpg on the highway, making this a vehicle you should definitely consider getting behind the wheel of. Ford Makes Impressive Technological Advances With Ford Atlas

WESTLAND, Mich.- Ford Motor Company makes some impressive technological advances with the Ford Atlas Concept Truck, released at the 2013 North American Auto Show in Detroit this past January. The Atlas is one of the first steps in Ford’s updated strategy for their line of trucks, which is to smarten them up, refine them, and add some clever technological advancements. The Atlas represents where Ford is headed in the pickup truck category and we are looking forward to seeing more of this concept truck!

           

The Ford Atlas is powered by a twin-turbo, EcoBoost 3.5 liter V-6 engine, which is emissions friendly and more fuel-efficient than competitors. It is also equipped with a fuel-saving transmission. The Atlas features rugged, yet aerodynamic styling coupled with a bundle of technological touches that make it a more efficient vehicle. Several of the new tech features are designed to improve fuel economy; for instance, the Atlas features a start-stop feature that actually shuts the vehicle down if stopped in traffic. Also, the active grille shutters and a drop-down front air dam improve the vehicle's aerodynamics, helping you to save even more at the pump. The package of fuel efficient features included in the vehicle are expected to boost the mpg to levels not previously possible in the truck category. 

 

One of the more advanced technologies that has been integrated into the Ford Atlas is the Intelligent Assess system, which automatically unlocks the vehicle's doors and the tailgate once the owner approaches. The vehicle also features Dynamic Hitch Assist, which uses the vehicle's camera to allow the driver to align the ball and hitch. Now that Ford Motor Company has made these impressive technological advances with the Ford Atlas Concept Truck, we have a preview of where Ford will be heading with their future trucks. It is probably safe to say that things are going to get pretty exciting!

2013 Shelby Raptor Released at New York Auto Show

WESTLAND, Mich.- Shelby American has just released the powerful 2013 Shelby Raptor muscle truck in New York City. The much-anticipated release took place at the New York International Auto Show, one of the biggest car and truck events in the world. The 2013 Shelby Raptor released at the New York Auto Show is Shelby American's latest super truck with ferocious styling and bragging rights to 575 horsepower under the hood.

Shelby American is world-famous for their work in muscling-up Ford cars and trucks with extra horsepower, substantial upgrades, and wicked design tweaks. The process for the Shelby Raptor starts using the 2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor as its base. The engine is then supercharged up to 575 horsepower and the vehicle is modified to handle the additional power. A Borla exhaust is fitted onto the vehile and the cooling system undergoes a serious upgrade, with a Shelby/Whipple system being installed. 

Besides jacking up the engine, Shelby American also goes to work on some of the super truck’s cosmetic aspects, by wrapping the interior with custom leather, installing custom Shelby emblems, and adding their ususal striking graphics. The upgrades cost a total of $17,995.

Shelby American’s original press release indicated that they intended to only produce 100 Shelby Raptor trucks. However, because of overwhelming demand, Shelby American has recently decided to up that number to 500. North Brothers Annual Clothing Drive

WESTLAND, Mich.- We're excited to announce that North Brothers Annual Clothing Drive has officially begun! This year's clothing drive at North Brothers Ford will benefit the Wayne Family Center which offers transitional shelter for homeless families. The Wayne Family Center accepts two-parent families, single mothers or fathers, and pregnant women. This year our clothing drive will run through March 31st, so there is plenty of time to arrange your donation. Donations of worn but well cared for clothing as well as cash donations are greatly appreciated. In addition, as with any North Brothers Ford Charity Event, we will match any donation made! We encourage you to join us in helping those in need in our community by contributing to North Brothers Annual Clothing Drive.
