Searching for the right stuff can take some time and patience, but we've taken a little of the guesswork out of it. Here are some of the top rated women's winter gear you'll want to have in your closet for the season. If you're a male, keep this list handy when you go to buy Valentine's Day gifts!

Sorel - Women's Joan of Arctic Wedge Boot (Waterpoof)This is a boot with a hidden wedge that not only looks good, but can keep your feet warm and dry, too. Sorel is known for their long lasting quality, so the cost, about $270 or less with sales, is something that might make you cringe upfront but will make you happy in the long run! They also have plenty of other popular options and varying styles including short, tall, flat, waterproof, etc. if you're not into the wedge style. Keep an eye out for sales on their website and on Zappos in the next few months.

Columbia - Women's Ice Maiden IIThese practical snow boots are rated for -25 degrees Fahrenheit, so they should definitely do the job well when it comes to keeping you warm! As opposed to the Sorel boots, these will cost you around $60-$80 sometimes less with sales. You can get these boots on Zappos, as well as local retailers like Shoe Carnival and even Kohl's. Customers say that these boots aren't too clunky, but really warm.

This jacket, is serious business. It's a heavyweight parka that's highly rated for warmth, wind resistance, and water resistance. It's one of the most highly rated parkas out there, but it comes at a price that might shock you. The Arctic Parka II will cost you $299, but if you plan on using it for years to come, you can bet on its longevity. Plus, it comes in many great colors and shouldn't go out of style any time soon.

While this jacket is normally $199, it's still $100 less than the North Face option and still highly rated! Not to mention, it's on sale at the moment on the Eddie Bauer website for just $99. As you can see in the photo, the outside of it has more of a sheen than the North Face option, but is otherwise simple and stylish. It's filled with down, rated for -20 degrees Fahrenheit, and waterproof, so it's a great investment with or without the sale price.

If you haven't noticed yet, North Face offers some of the best winter products, including gloves! There are so many options out there made from different materials, but we believe leather is the way to go. This pair is made from goat leather and goat suede and are really stylish as well. These are quite pricey for a pair of gloves, but again, will last you for many winters to come. You can get these Leather IL Solo gloves in black or "elk".

We chose a slightly more affordable glove option from North Face that we think is worth the $45. These gloves come in a wide variety of colors and sizes to fit all hands. They're stretchy, flexible, relatively lightweight, machine washable, and have an "Etip" that allows you to use your smartphone's touch screen with them on. They are described as "breathable" so if you need something warmer for longer periods of time outdoors, try the Women's Denali Thermal gloves.

One of the highest rated winter hats is this one from, again, North Face! This will cost you about $30 and only comes in three color options. It's slightly vintage and very cozy looking, so if you can find a jacket to match, this is a great investment. One of the best things about this hat, though, is the fleece ear band on the inside. This will help your ears stay warm, and eliminate some of that annoying itch that comes with wool and other knit hats.

You might know the Carhartt brand because they're a Detroit based company, or because they make some of the warmest jackets for men, specifically for hunting and work. Carhartt isn't just good at making jackets, they have a variety of warm gear you'll love, including this Acrylic Watch Hat. It's a rib-knit style hat that comes in a many solid colors. The best part? It costs $9.99! You can get it online or at some retailers like Dick's Sporting Goods. Want a little something extra? Try the Lookout Pom Pom hat for $14.99.
