Ford Celebrating the New Year with Record SUV & F-Series Sales

WESTLAND, Mich.,––The New Year has arrived and Ford is taking account for the previous year with a smile. As automotive sales have shifted away from sedans and gone towards the SUV spectrum in the past 12 months, so have Ford consumers. Ford is celebrating the New Year with record SUV & F-Series sales, not to mention their continued title of "America's Favorite Brand" for the 8th consecutive year.

Although cars took significant dive in sales, 15.2% year over year, the SUVs and trucks took the stage in a big way. Year-to-date trucks and SUVs both climbed 4.3%, contributing heavily towards the full-year sales count of 2,586,715 Ford vehicles! Overall truck sales increased 9.3%, marking 2017 as the best year in performance since 2005. This stunning climb helped the F-Series become America's Best-Selling pickup for the 41st time in a row.

Ford's SUV sales came to a total of 796, 302 units, again marking 2017 as the best year yet! The year-to-date climb includes the new all-time December sales record, an increase of 10.3%, which has something to say about the shift in the auto market. The Edge posted the largest gain out of all Ford SUVs, particularly in the coastal western region of the U.S. The Explorer also showed large growth with a gain of 33.3% just in December, the best December it has had since 2003.

Another notable moment from this year was the gain in Mustang sales in December, which came to 7,714 units in December. That's a 9.2% jump! This is surprising in some way because of the decline in sports cars sales in the industry over the past 12 months. The newest vehicle, the redesigned 2018 Expedition is also off to a great start from being released late this year with 5,458 units sold last month.

2018 Ford F-150 Will Be a Game Changer

WESTLAND, Mich.––The North American International Auto Show has officially kicked off this week, and the news is pouring in with details and photos about upcoming vehicles and concepts. One vehicle that has heads turning is the newest Ford F-150 pickup! The 2018 Ford F-150 will be a game changer with its new transmission and engine options. Let's take a look at what's to come from Ford.

The announcement of the 2018 Ford F-150 came with a date of expectancy: this coming fall. Yes, that quickly we'll see the new F-150 on the roads. You'll notice in the photos new grille and wheel options, which is just a part of the new design. New LED lighting will appear at the rear, along with LED lights in the bed, and spotlights on the side mirrors that'll help with late-night work. 

This new version of Ford's light duty F-150 will come a high-strength alloy body and fully boxed ladder frame to remain light and able to tow loads bigger than ever before. The advanced safety and driver assist features like adaptive cruise (good while towing), intelligent idling, auto start-stop, and pedestrian detection only add to the entire driving experience and efficiency and will provide drivers more confidence.

Speaking of confidence, the new 10-speed transmission should make drivers feel more confident in towing, because this trans will help provide faster and smoother 'get-up'. The biggest news to come out of this announcement was the new engine options that'll come with the 2018 model. Within the 7 models you'll be able to choose from, you'll find a new standard 3.3L Ti VCT V6, a 2.7L EcoBoost, a 5.0L Ti VCT V8, 3.5L EcoBoost, and a 3.0L Power Stroke Diesel.

Ford's $80 Million Investment Plan for Kentucky Truck Plant

WESTLAND, Mich - Ford's $80 Million Investment Plan for the Kentucky Truck Plant will refurbish the building and meet the growing demand for Ford F-Series Super Duty Trucks. Ford will also be adding an additional 350 jobs at the plant. Ford Motor Company's investment will pay for much needed facility improvements and in return will help increase the amount of production.

From automation upgrades in the body and paint shops to retooling, the Kentucky Truck Plant could use a face lift. Ford's $80 million investment will cover the plant's refurbishing and in return will create more employment opportunities. The company is hoping that the investment and additional employees, will result in a 15 percent increase in production capacity, or a total of 55, 000 units. 

Customer demand for the F-Series Super Duty has and is continuing to grow rapidly since its debut in 1999. So rapidly in fact that with the 2014 production increase, the plant will build the 5-millionth Ford F-Series Super Duty. Ford is excited to add new jobs to the plant for many reasons, but especially because of the impact it will have on the local community.
