CNG-Compatible Ford F-150 To Be Sold in 2014

WESTLAND, Mich. - Ford has announced that a CNG-Compatible Ford will be sold in 2014, making it the only half-ton pickup of its kind.  CNG stands for compressed natural gas, and is a great alternative to petroleum for multiple reasons - it's cheaper, it emits less carbon dioxide, and it's something that the United State has a lot of.

After purchasing a Ford F-150, you will need to have a CNG/LPG system installed which typically costs anywhere from $7,500-$9,500 - something that's not cheap. However, it's something to consider when you think of the amount of money you spend on gas per year. A gallon of natural gas is a lot cheaper, with the national average being just over $2.00 - in some states, it's going for less than $1.00.

Not to mention you'll be using a fuel source that is domestically produced and is better for the environment.

If you are worried about not being able to find a place to fill up your CNG vehicle, not to worry. With a vehicle as popular as the F-150 taking natural gas, places that sell the fuel should pop up pretty quickly. While the CNG-compatible Ford F-150 is to be sold in the 2014 model, production of the F-150s fitted with the prep kit will begin in November. However, Ford will start taking orders in August.
