Off-Road Warrior 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Available This Fall

WESTLAND, Mich.––Ford has recently reported sales that show more adventurous and thrill-seeking buyers are flocking to Ford's performance lineup. Globally, Ford will sell more than 200,000 performance cars in 2016, which is about twice what performance sales were three years ago. Coming to the lineup is the new off-road warrior, 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor, available this fall. The newest Raptor pickup truck model is ready to show off with many improvements to off-road performance, fuel economy, and power overall.

The new 2017 Raptor is coming with a stunning 450 Hp, Ford just announced, and a powerful 510 lb-ft of torque. The 2017 model will weigh in at 500 lbs less than the 2014 model. This is thanks to the same aluminum alloy body and high-strength steel frame you'll see in standard F-150s. The new weight and body will also be paired with a high-output 10-speed transmission and EcoBoost engine, which leads to:

21% improvement in average torque-to-weight ratio.

You'll find better optimized power bands and lower RPM torque thanks to the 10-speed transmission and torque on-demand transfer case.

23% improvement in EPA-estimated fuel economy

EPA ratings for the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is 15 city/18 highway/16 combined mpg, although your use of the truck will create varied actual mileage.

“The torque-on-demand transfer case and six-mode Terrain Management System is unique to Raptor in the Ford family of vehicles,” Tranter said. “It gives you the benefit of a clutched all-wheel-drive system for easy around-town maneuverability in bad weather. Then, there’s Baja Mode, which automatically engages a mechanically locked 4X4 high, and optimizes throttle response, shifting and boost control to provide improved off-road capability. That’s definitely drawing a line in the sand.”

We can't forget to mention the addition of driving modes to fit whatever road in whatever condition. The modes include Baja, rock/crawl, sport, weather, mud/sand, and normal. The trucks adaptive shift technology works to ensure the right gear is enabled at the right time for a more engaged driving experience. The reduced weight lends to better shifting function overall.

2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Comes With the Most Capable Tires Yet

WESTLAND, Mich.–– The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor has already proven to be one of the most capable products in Ford's lineup with its list of amazing new features. This new Raptor truck will take you from the road to the sandy desert to the rockiest terrain and back. Earlier this year Ford released a very close to stock 2017 Raptor to race in the Best in the Desert off-road series in the new factory stock class to show just what this truck can do. There's just one more stock feature unique to this truck that makes it one step ahead of its competition. The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor comes with the most capable tires yet, the BFGoodrich all-terrain T/A KO2 tires.

This special set of tires were used with the Best in the Desert 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor. The all-terrain tires were developed in-line with the trucks chassis meant to make the ride more comfortable and to improve on and off road performance. The T/A KO2 tires feature a racing cut with a "chip-and-tear-resistant" tread compound. The Ford and BFGoodrich engineers who worked on these tires went through a dozen versions before they decided on the final to match the performance of the Raptor.

The tires were put through hundreds of hours of simulations to see how they would react in real life situations. The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor comes with an all-new terrain management system which includes six driving modes including: Normal for everyday driving, Weather mode for snow/rain/ice, Mud and Sand mode for trails and terrain, Baja mode for desert running, Street mode for performance on-road driving, and Rock mode for low-speed rock crawling.

The 2017 Ford Fusion Energi Goes the Distance

WESTLAND, Mich.––There is a large number of drivers that are unsatisfied with their vehicle's range. Are you one of the 40% that wish their vehicle could take them further? If so, you'll want to hear this. The 2017 Ford Fusion Energi gets an EPA-estimated 610 miles on a full tank of gas and a fully charged battery. You read that right, a 610 mile-range, which makes this sedan the highest combined range on the market in America. The 2017 Ford Fusion Energi goes the distance with the newest and highest mile range, taking Ford's electrified vehicle (EV) lineup to the next level.

Ford had announced earlier this year they would be investing $4.5 billion towards 13 new nameplates/products to its EV lineup by 2020, and this 2017 Ford Fusion Energi is an incredible move forward. By the year 2020, 40% of Fords product offering will be electrified which means you can go further and run on cleaner energy. This is a smart plan Ford has begun because of the recent data that's been found on consumers's perception of vehicle range.

Earlier this year, the online Harris Poll found that 40% of Americans are unsatisfied with their vehicle's range and that they perceive vehicle range to be much lower than reality. The poll found 1,000 Americans believe the longest range hybrid can go 261 miles. This number is much lower than the 2017 Ford Fusion Energi's range. This could be from the standpoint of not understanding what a plug-in hybrid vehicle truly is.

“Plug-in hybrids are electric vehicles until you run down the battery,” said Wade Jackson, marketing manager for Ford Fusion, “then they work exactly like a conventional hybrid. Fusion Energi – with a full battery and a full tank of gas – can go from San Diego, through Los Angeles and all the way up to San Francisco, and still have up to 110 miles of range remaining.”

The changes made to the Ford Fusion Energi were in the regenerative braking and hybrid powertrain software. The regenerative braking allows for energy typically lost when braking to be cycled back to the battery. This allows for the 2017 Ford Fusion Energi to go further than the 2016 model, 60 miles to be exact. The break-down of how the engine uses energy is as follows: the car will run for about 21 miles on battery only, when there is gas in the tank the car will then run on battery and gas for about a mile, then the car will run fully on gas. Again, that's 610 miles of range, which is nearly triple the Tesla Model 3's range.

Tire Maintenance Tips for National Tire Safety Week

WESTLAND, Mich.–– May 29th through June 4th marks a week all drivers should celebrate. This past week has been all about tire safety. Because your vehicle's tires are one of its biggest safety components, taking care of them is essential! Not only does taking care of your tires properly keep you safe on the road, but it can help you save money, too by extending the life of your tires. We've got some tire maintenance tips for National Tire Safety Week for you to follow this season and beyond.

1. Keep your tires properly inflated

Checking your tires regularly for proper inflation is essential. Having air pressure that's too high will result in longer stopping distances and excess bounce because less of your tire is touching the ground. Having air pressure that's too low will result in your car working harder to move, therefore your vehicle will use more gas and your tires could wear prematurely due to excess friction. You can find the recommended air pressure or psi for your tires in your owner's manual or on the sticker on the inside of your driver's side door. Keep in mind, temperature can affect the air pressure in your tires so pay attention when the weather changes.

2. Rotate and balance your tires

Your tires will naturally wear differently depending on where they are at on your car, how you drive, how your tires are aligned, etc. Having uneven tread wear can result in you buying tires more often! Even tread wear on all tires is ideal because it'll give your car enough grip on the road to stop when you need to. You can accomplish this by rotating your tires every other oil change and having your tires balanced when needed.

3. Don't overload your vehicle

Each vehicle and set of tires can only handle so much weight before potential damage. Tires that are overloaded with weight can become too hot when in use and are at risk of blowing out on the road. You can typically find this information in your owner's manual.

4. Check your tires regularly

Simply visually inspecting your tires by checking their tread with a penny, looking for cracks or bulges, and looking for nails or other foreign objects that may have penetrated the tire can save you a headache. Seeing low tread, or any other irregularities can mean your safety is at risk on the road, so make sure to get your vehicle in as soon as possible for an inspection.

The Ford Fiesta is One Cool Car

WESTLAND, Mich.––This is now the sixth time in seven years the Ford Fiesta has made it onto Kelley Blue Book's Top 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000. While it's no secret to us as to why it's cool, you may not know all about this small car and its fun personality. We're proud to offer this car at our dealership and want to explain to you why it's worth checking out. The Ford Fiesta is one cool car, so let's take a look at what it's got to offer!

First off, the cars on the list had to meet certain requirements like being fun to drive, being fun to own, and had to start at $18,000 or less using KBB's exclusive Fair Market Range. The 2016 Ford Fiesta actually starts at $14,090 excluding destination and delivery.
