Production of the 2015 Transit Brings 1,000 New Ford Employees to the Kansas City Assembly Plant. An additional 175 employees will be joining them this coming March.
Ford Motor Company welcomed 1,000 new employees to the Kansas City Assembly plant late last week. The all-new 2015 Transit is going on sale this summer in the United States and is one of 16 vehicles debuting in the U.S. this year. The all-new Transit will eventually be replacing the Ford E-Series; America's best-selling van for the past 35 years.
Over 7 million Transit vans have been sold globally; becoming the best-selling commercial vehicle in the UK for 48 years. The 2015 Transit will be better than ever, offering customers the widest choice of roof heights, wheelbases, body lengths, and a full suite of onboard features and technologies that have been specifically designed with businesses in mind. Best-in-class mileage will be offered by three proven powertrains, providing the customer with efficiency and alternative fuel options. Cargo volume from 250 to 500 cubic feet will save customers the hassle of having to make multiple trips. The Transit will offer reach an average of 25 percent better fuel economy and haul at least 300 pounds more than the E-Series.
Kansas City Assembly Plant has had a job increase of 35 percent year-over-year with 3,400 employees in 2013 and more than 4,600 who will be in the plant by March. Ford is bringing more than 5,000 new jobs to the United States and has brought a total of 14,000 Ford jobs to North America over the past two years.
