2013 Shelby Raptor Released at New York Auto Show

WESTLAND, Mich.- Shelby American has just released the powerful 2013 Shelby Raptor muscle truck in New York City. The much-anticipated release took place at the New York International Auto Show, one of the biggest car and truck events in the world. The 2013 Shelby Raptor released at the New York Auto Show is Shelby American's latest super truck with ferocious styling and bragging rights to 575 horsepower under the hood.

Shelby American is world-famous for their work in muscling-up Ford cars and trucks with extra horsepower, substantial upgrades, and wicked design tweaks. The process for the Shelby Raptor starts using the 2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor as its base. The engine is then supercharged up to 575 horsepower and the vehicle is modified to handle the additional power. A Borla exhaust is fitted onto the vehile and the cooling system undergoes a serious upgrade, with a Shelby/Whipple system being installed. 

Besides jacking up the engine, Shelby American also goes to work on some of the super truck’s cosmetic aspects, by wrapping the interior with custom leather, installing custom Shelby emblems, and adding their ususal striking graphics. The upgrades cost a total of $17,995.

Shelby American’s original press release indicated that they intended to only produce 100 Shelby Raptor trucks. However, because of overwhelming demand, Shelby American has recently decided to up that number to 500. On Tuesday, the company debuted all new 2013 Shelby GT500 Super Snake Wide Body, based on the kit designed for the GT500 Cobra built to commemorate the company's founder, Carroll Shelby. The new wide body kit, previewed on the GT500 Super Snake, was built to fit any Ford Mustang dating back as far as the 2005 model year.

Officially named the "Wide Body Street Edition," the 2013 Shelby GT500 Super Snake Wide Body shows wider front and rear fenders that are designed to accomodate tires up to 13 inches wide in the rear. This will provide the Super Snake with significantly more traction, which it will need to harness the GT500's boosted, street-legal, 850 horsepower! Even with the impressive boost in power, the 2013 Shelby Gt500 Super Snake Wide Body remains 50 state emissions legal and tuned on 91 octane pump gas.
