WESTLAND, Mich. –– One of Fox's most popular shows, Gotham will have a new actor on the set. Fox and Ford have worked together to create featured content that will begin airing Monday Feb. 29 during the winter premier of Gotham. Although Ford has many suitable vehicles to take the stage, the 2016 Ford Explorer will be in the Gotham spotlight.
The unique content, called Villains Revealed, will air during the show and also be available online at FOX.com. The content will air in 60-second segments each week through March 14th. The driver? Cory Michael Smith who plays a split-personality and future villain, Edward Nygma, otherwise known as the Riddler.
Smith will be driving the Ford Explorer around the streets of New York where he solves riddles because he is the Riddler after all. In the shots he will be solving the riddles and referencing various Gotham cast members and dropping "easter egg" like clues for viewers and Gotham followers along the way.
The content was filmed in New York on set in January. This is actually the second year that Ford and Fox have worked together to create exclusive content. In fact the 2015 Ford Fusion was the vehicle in the spotlight last year with Ford and Fox's collaboration. The content will be featuring the 2016 Ford Explorer Platinum and will highlight:
- Voice-to-text capability
- SYNC 3 driver-connectivity system
- 180-degree front camera
- Hands-free liftgate
- Active park assist
“It’s a fun and very creative way to showcase some of what makes Explorer Platinum such a great vehicle,” said Ginger Kasanic, Ford experiential marketing manager. “A lot of people – from the show’s writers to Cory himself – really got involved in the story-telling process.”
