WESTLAND, Mich. - Ford has announced that a CNG-Compatible Ford will be sold in 2014, making it the only half-ton pickup of its kind. CNG stands for compressed natural gas, and is a great alternative to petroleum for multiple reasons - it's cheaper, it emits less carbon dioxide, and it's something that the United State has a lot of.
After purchasing a Ford F-150, you will need to have a CNG/LPG system installed which typically costs anywhere from $7,500-$9,500 - something that's not cheap. However, it's something to consider when you think of the amount of money you spend on gas per year. A gallon of natural gas is a lot cheaper, with the national average being just over $2.00 - in some states, it's going for less than $1.00.
Not to mention you'll be using a fuel source that is domestically produced and is better for the environment.
If you are worried about not being able to find a place to fill up your CNG vehicle, not to worry. With a vehicle as popular as the F-150 taking natural gas, places that sell the fuel should pop up pretty quickly. There is also a home fueling system available for houses that are heated by natural gas. Not to mention, these Ford F-150s will also take gasoline if you find yourself in a pinch.
While the CNG-compatible Ford F-150 is to be sold in the 2014 model, production of the F-150s fitted with the prep kit will begin in November. However, Ford will start taking orders in August.
If you'd like to discuss the pros and cons of getting a CNG-compatible Ford with a Ford professional, stop by our Romulus Area Ford Dealership today! We'd be more than happy to go over the details with you and find a vehicle that is perfect for your lifestyle. Ford Shows New V8-Powered Ranger Headed to Dakar Rally
WESTLAND, Mich. - Team Ford Racing has confirmed the Ford Ranger Dakar entry in the South American Dakar Rally race. Ford has shown the new V8-powered Ranger headed to the Dakar Rally, and it's a beauty. Designed specifically for endurance as opposed to speed, this vehicle is one that is sure to do extremely well.
The Dakar Rally will be in South America this year, taking place from January 5 until January 18th. The rally is designed to specifically showcase Off-Road machinery from all over the globe, and spans a total distance of 8,500 km (over 5,000 miles) through Argentina, Chile and Bolivia. There are 13 stages of the competition, with each stage designed to rigorously test the power and endurance of each vehicle.
The V8-powered Ford Ranger headed to Dakar Rally is a modified Ranger (a vehicle not typically sold in the U.S.) that is designed to handle the race and its tasks. Since it is all about endurance as opposed to speed, the race trucks are limited to around 350 hp and 413 lb-ft of torque - meaning it'll only have a max speed of 105 mph. However, the Ranger will contain a 5.0-l V8 engine taken from a Mustang, a six-speed sequential gearbox, liquid-cooled rear brakes and a 132-gallon fuel tank. It's perfectly designed for the race it'll take part in, but it's definitely a vehicle we wouldn't have to pay the gas bill for!
Ford Racing is something that we love to follow and discuss. If you'd like to discuss how Ford will do at the Dakar Rally, or even take one of our powerful Ford Mustangs out for a test drive, stop by our Romulus Area Ford Dealership today! Our talented and friendly staff would be more than happy to assist you with anything from Auto Loans to purchasing a New Ford Car! So stop by and see us today!

Ford's Vibrating Stick Shift Teaches New Drivers How to Drive a Manual
WESTLAND, Mich. - The question of whether a manual or automatic provides a better drive is a continuous battle, with many drivers preferring to drive with a stick shift. However, the newest generation of drivers are learning to drive with automatics and never learning how to operate a manual transmission. This may soon be a thing of the past however, as Ford's vibrating stick shift teaches new drivers how to drive a manual.
This new technology is great for new drivers because of its alert system - the shift knob will vibrate when it is time to change gears. In most cases, an LED screen is located on top of the shift knob (seen in the above picture) which lets the driver know which gear the car is currently in. The engineer that has designed the knob has also said that drivers can program the shifter to better fit their driving needs. Specifically, someone looking for better fuel economy can adjust the shift to alert them when the most efficient time to shift is.
So how does the shifter know when it is time to change gears? It is connected to your vehicle's on-board diagnostic system and uses real-time data from your car. When your vehicle is ready to shift, the shifter reads the information from your car and alerts the driver that it is time to switch gears. You can see the gear in action by watching the video below.
Ford's vibrating stick shift that teaches new drivers how to drive a manual is not yet available, but will soon be sold to the public. If you'd like to talk about getting a manual transmission in your next vehicle, come see us at our Belleville Area Ford Dealer and our knowledgeable staff can go over all your options. We also have a variety of New Ford Cars and Certified Pre-Owned Cars For Sale that already have manual transmissions, so make sure to check those out! We look forward to seeing you soon!

2014 Ford Focus Review
WESTLAND, Mich. - The Ford Focus has already been named the best selling car in the world for 2012, and Ford Motor Company the best perceived brand in North America - but if this isn't enough of an incentive for you to purchase the 2014 Ford Focus, we've got you covered. We've put together a 2014 Ford Focus review, to let you know the details about this small car; giving you all the information you need to know to make an informed decision.
First, it's not appropriate to call this car 'small' since it is actually quite spacious. While the outside may look tiny, the inside is roomy with enough legroom and headroom to fit even those that are over six feet. No matter if you choose the sedan or the hatchback, the interior space remains about the same. There is plenty of room for the tall and mighty to fit comfortably in the back seat, so space should not be an issue for you with the Focus.
As for how the vehicle drives, the 2.0-liter direct-injected four-cylinder engine can produce 160-hp and go from 0-60 in 6.3 seconds. It also comes paired with either a five-speed manual gearbox or six-speed PowerShift dual-clutch automatic - it's completely your preference as to what you choose. There is also a Focus ST available that gets a top speed of 155 mph and has a 240hp turbocharged EcoBoost four and a sic-speed manual - no automatic.
When it comes to safety, the Ford Focus is a great pick. This compact sedan has earned both a five-star NCAP Overall Score and IIHS Top Safety Pick.
We hope that this 2014 Ford Focus review has helped you make a decision about this amazingly fuel efficient and fun vehicle. If you'd like to take it for a test drive, or see what great options you have to choose from, stop by our Belleville Area Ford Dealer today! We have a great selection of Certified Pre-Owned Ford Focuses as well as New Ford Cars. Take your pick! New Ford System Helps Protect Police Officers
WESTLAND, Mich. - The police work hard to protect our communities, that's why a new Ford system will help protect police officers. Criminals will often target officers when they are in their vehicles, believing them to be the most vulnerable - especially if they can sneak up from behind. This new surveillance system, the first of its kind, will provide police officers with the security that they won't be ambushed from behind while sitting in their vehicles.
This Ford Motor Co. surveillance system sounds a chime, locks the doors and puts up the windows if it detects someone approaching the car from behind. Officers are often the most vulnerable at night, especially when they are in an area that is not packed with a lot of pedestrians. This system would ensure that they wouldn't be taken by surprise.
The safety feature is officially called "Surveillance Mode", and can be turned on or off. This is especially useful for when an officer is in a high traffic area, since the system is not as necessary when there are a lot of people around. Surveillance Mode sells for $248.44 as a stand-alone option, but can go for $75 when it's packaged with other options. If this system proves to be effective, it will most likely be made available to consumers in the near future.
With or without the new Ford System to help protect police officers, Ford vehicles have numerous other safety features to make you feel secure. For a full list of what a Ford vehicle can offer you, stop by our Romulus Area Ford Dealership today! Our talented and knowledgeable sales staff can answer any of your questions and/or concerns. Ford is the Top Brand in America
WESTLAND, Mich. - Ford Motor Company has been receiving achievement after achievement this year, as the Ford Fiesta was named the Supreme Winner of the Women's Word Car of the Year contest; the Ford F-150 was named the best light-duty pickup truck and the Most American vehicle. Now, Ford is the top brand in America according to marketing research conducted by YouGov! Their research showed that Ford is now the best-perceived brand in the U.S. - not just among automakers, but amongst all companies.
YouGov asked around 5,000 Americans their opinion on 1,100 of the country's biggest brands. The participants were asked if they had heard anything about the brand in the last two weeks, through advertising, news or word of mouth, and if what they heard was positive or negative. They were asked to rank what they heard about each brand on a scale ranging from -100 (extremely negative) to +100 (extremely positive). A score of zero is neutral. Ford's average score among YouGov survey respondents was 31.
Ford Motor Company is the top brand in America and is the only automaker to break the top ten. This is not only because Ford makes quality vehicles, but also because cars like the Ford Fusion, Ford Focus, and Ford Fiesta have become a favorite of consumers. According to YouGov, the fact that Ford refused a government bailout during the Great Recession also made it a favorite among consumers.
If you'd like to see for yourself why Ford deserves to be the top brand in America, stop by our Romulus Area Ford dealership today and let us show you! We have a great selection of New Ford Cars that you will love. If you're in the market for a used vehicle, come on over to our Romulus Used Car Dealer! Our talented North Brothers team members are more than happy to assist you with any of your automotive needs. We look forward to seeing you soon!

6 Tips to Clean and Detail Like a Pro
1. Starting with your carpets, use a stiff brush to work the material. These stiff brushes will work up any dirt or grime left in your seats and carpets, allowing you to easily vacuum it up. If you have leather seats, use a conditioner with aloe.
2. Have an air compressor? Perfect! Using the compressed air, spray your vents, nooks and crannies. Dirt and dust build up in your vents can cause your car to smell musty or dirty. By using your air compressor, you can preserve that new car smell!
3. Next step is cleaning your tires. It's recommended that you clean your wheels and tires before you clean and protect your car's paint, so make sure this is at the front of your detailing list! Make sure to avoid detergents on your wheels and tires as it can damage your tires, as well as damage your paint if splashed. The best solution to use is a degreaser.
4. If you want the best car wash, do it by hand. Using a soft sponge or washcloth, along with a car wash solution, you'll be able to wash away any dirt or grime. DO NOT use dishwashing detergent. This detergent strips away wax coatings and can eventually damage your paint. After you're done washing, use a rubber-blade squeegee to get the water off - this will prevent you from having spots.
5. Protect your paint with wax! Although wax will wear off after a few months, it absorbs stains and small scratches, protecting your paint. Pros will typically use two coats of wax to ensure that they don't miss a spot. You should wax your car once every season. There is no way to tell if the wax has worn off, so having a schedule will help you keep track.
6. Clean your glass last! Using a glass cleaner without ammonia, and a microfiber cloth if you have one, you will be able to easily wipe away grime and dirt - without streaks!
We hope the 6 tips to clean and detail like a pro have helped you. It's important to note that if you have a scratch in the paint that goes down to the metal, you should take it to a professional to have it buffed out. Your car can easily rust from this scratch, so stop by North Brothers today and let us help you out!

Ford Creates Metal Prototypes in Hours Instead of Weeks
WESTLAND, Mich. - Ford manufacturing has come a long way since its humble beginnings, as new technology now allows Ford to create metal prototypes in hours instead of weeks. Before, designers would sometimes have to wait weeks for the prototypes of new products; now, some pieces can be completed in a matter of 2-3 hours.
In Dearborn, MI, the Ford Research and Innovation Center has been inspired by the new 3-D printing practices that Ford has implemented into production. This first-of-its-kind technology, better known as the Ford Freeform Fabrication Technology (F3T), lowers cost and production times for prototypes. Using F3T, Ford creates metal prototypes in hours instead of weeks by using this technology that functions somewhat like a printer.
Like a printer, it takes a file and uses this file to form the product. While a printer produces something through the use of layering, the F3T works a little differently. This technology forms the sheet metal into the desired shape by clamping the sheet metal in place while a computer-controlled stylus moves over the sheet metal and presses where necessary.
This patented technology is allowing Ford to create prototypes at a much quicker rate, and will eventually make custom orders much easier. This could mean that custom-made orders will be more common on the road, as they will be cheaper and easier to produce.
To see for yourself how the F3T works, check out the Ford video at the bottom of this post.

First, we have a seven-layer dip that would be great for your guests to snack on. For this recipe, you'll need:
- 1 can (16 oz) of Refried Beans
- 1 tbsp. Taco Seasoning Mix
- 1 Cup Sour Cream
- 1 Cup Salsa
- 1 Cup Shredded Lettuce
- 1 Cup Shredded Four Cheese
- 4 Green Onions, Sliced
- 2 tbsp. Sliced Black Olives
This dish is super simple for having so many ingredient, and it's super delicious. Simply mix the taco seasoning mix in with the refried beans and spread onto the bottom of the plate you'll be using. We recommend using a pie plate or casserole dish, depending on how much you decide to make. After you have spread the beans, just layer each remaining ingredient. It's that simple! After it's layered, make sure to refrigerate until chilled and serve with chips.
Our second recipe is for dessert and is called Firecracker Bark! This is perfect for 4th of July and is sure to be something that everyone will love. You'll need:
- 22 Ounces White Chocolate Chips
- 4 Packets of Pop Rocks Candy (2 Strawberry, 2 Blue Raspberry)
- Wax/Parchment Paper
For this recipe, you'll need to melt the white chocolate and pour it onto your wax paper lined pan. Use a spatula to spread the chocolate out until the bark is as thin/thick as you'd like. Then, sprinkle the pop rocks on top and let cool for an hour. After it's cooled, you can break the bark into pieces and serve! It's delicious and each bite has a little spark!
The final recipe is a layered drink that is perfect for 4th of July festivities. While you can use whichever drinks you'd like, we used:
- 1 Bottle of SOBE Pina Coloda
- 1 G2 Blueberry Pomegranate
- One Gatorade Fruit Punch
The trick to making the layered drink is knowing the sugar content of each drink that you use. The drink with the highest sugar content goes first, as it will remain at the bottom. Then, you add the layers of drink by decreasing sugar content, meaning the drink with the lowest sugar content will be on top. The sugar is what makes the drink separate into layers. It's super easy and looks great!
We hope you enjoy these super easy Fourth of July recipes that are sure to amaze. Enjoy your holiday!

11 Great Grilling Tips for Summer BBQs
1. During the prep stage, it's important to marinate your meat. Not only does it give your meat great flavor, it also keeps it from drying out during the cooking process.
2. Preheat your grill! Grills cook best when they've had time to heat up, so it's recommended you allow it to heat up for about 15-25 minutes before you put your food on. This allows your grill to properly sear your food, keep the insides moist, and it also keeps your food from sticking to the grill rack.
3. Use the hand test to check if your grill has reached temperature. Place your hand about 5 inches above the grill rack - if you can keep your hand there for 2 seconds, it's at high temperature; 5 seconds, it's at medium temp; 10 seconds, it's at low temp.
4. Clean your grill while it's hot. Debris comes off a lot easier when your grill is already hot so use a grill brush to clean off your grill rack. If you don't have a grill brush, simply crumple a piece of aluminum foil and use your tongs to clean the food leftovers off.
5. Oil your grill rack up. Using your tongs, wipe an oil soaked paper towel across the grill rack to
prevent food from sticking to it.
6. Avoid cross-contamination by not basting your meat with the marinade. Since your marinade is used when the meat is raw, you will be spreading bacteria back on your meat when it is cooked. Prepare extra marinade and set it aside to baste with.
7. If you're cooking burgers, here's a little tip to keep your burger completely flat: use your thumb or the back of a spoon to indent the top of each patty. Nothing is more irksome than a patty that won't hold it's toppings because it is rounded - this trick will keep your patty flat.
8. If you are going to make kabobs, don't cram the ingredients tightly together. Keeping them touching, especially if you are making chicken kabobs, will keep the ingredients juicier longer - but only if they aren't crowded on the skewer.
9. Check the temperature of your meat. Using a temperature gauge, you'll be able to tell if your meat is ready to be taken off the grill. If you don't have a temperature gauge, touch the meat with your forefinger - the tougher it is, the more done it will be.
10. If there is a flare up, don't use water! If you spray water on your grill during a flare up, the water could splatter causing burns or even crack the porcelain-enamel finish on your grill. The safest and easiest way to extinguish the flames is to close the lid on your grill. The lid will reduce the amount of oxygen and extinguish the flames.
11. Let your meat sit after cooking. Meat continues to cook after it's been taken off the grill, so wrap your meat in aluminum foil and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. This will let it finish cooking and also allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
We hope you find these 11 great grilling tips for summer BBQs useful and stay safe during the BBQ season. How Ford Protects You From Car Theft
WESTLAND, Mich. - If you're a car thief, business is about to get really slow. Ford has created and installed various anti-theft technologies into its vehicles that make stealing a car extremely difficult. In fact, the FBI has recently released data that says the number of vehicles stolen is plummeting, thanks to new technology found in vehicles.
So how is Ford protecting you from car theft? One important technology that Ford has installed in your car is the SecuriCode Keyless Entry. SecuriCode Keyless Entry is a great technology that makes things easy and convenient for you and difficult for people with bad intentions. This technology allows you to avoid time spent fumbling and looking for keys, as you can just enter your programmed five-digit code into the driver's side keypad. Only the right code will send a signal to the wiring system in your engine, allowing the vehicle to start.
This is a great safety feature since it cuts the time that you are outside of your car trying to get in. Car thefts can happen in a moment's notice when you're fumbling for your keys, as your focus is not on your surroundings. The SecuriCode lets you quickly enter the code and hop in your vehicle, all the while keeping your attention on what's going on around you.
Now that you know just one of the many ways in which Ford protects you from car theft, it's important to know that there are still precautionary measures you should take. Even the most secure technology won't protect you or your car if you aren't cautious. Here are a few quick tips:

- NEVER leave your keys in the ignition. Even if you are just running into the store for a second, it only takes a second to jump in your car and drive off.
- Always lock your vehicle. Locking your Ford activates the lock security systems.
- Don't leave valuables in plain sight. If your purse or laptop bag is clearly visible, the thief has more motivation to break into your vehicle.
- Trust your gut and use common sense. Always try to stay in well-lit areas and avoid parking behind dumpsters, large vehicles, or anything that could keep people nearby from spotting your car.
