Testing Begins on All-New Right-Hand-Drive Mustang

WESTLAND, Mich - The 2015 Ford Mustang will take power, capability and advanced technology to right-hand-drive markets around the world. Right-hand-drive customers, like those located in the United Kingdom, Australia and South Africa, will soon be able to enjoy the infamous pony car as testing begins on the all-new right-hand-drive Mustang.

Ford has recently finished the first-ever, right-hand-drive sixth generation Mustang prototype and is preparing for the completion of various development tests. Ford plans to send the car out into the global market in the coming months, not too much longer after the Mustang goes on sale this fall in the United States. Roughly 120 countries will have access to the 2015 Ford Mustang as of next year, including 25 new right-hand-drive markets. 

One of North America's most beloved vehicles is making its way into the hearts of several other countries world-wide. Since the debut of the Ford Mustang in 1964, 161,000 Mustangs have been sold outside of North America. More than 4,000 Mustangs were sold in 2012 alone to 35 countries outside of North America, including locations from the United Arab Emirates to Chile.

Ford Vehicles Nominated for 2015 North American Car/Truck of the Year

 WESTLAND, Mich - A huge congratulations to Ford Motor Company on having several Ford vehicles nominated for the 2015 North American Car and Truck of the Year! This year a jury of 60, ten more than in previous years, will consider 28 candidates in the car category and 29 vehicles within the truck/utility/crossover segment. The jury has been expanded this year due to the industry's increased growth within important publications in print, online and broadcast journalism. 

With multiple nominations, Ford Motor Company has the potential to sweep both categories this year! The Ford vehicles nominated for the 2015 North American Car and Truck of the Year are: the Ford Mustang, Edge, Expedition, Ford F-150, Ford F-Series HD, Ford Transit Connect, the Lincoln MKC and Navigator. Once the jurors drive all of the nominees this fall, an initial round of voting will take place to create the "short list". This will be followed by another assessment period and vote, resulting in three finalists for each category. After the final round of voting takes place, the winners will be announced at the Detroit Auto Show in January.

Nutritious Ideas for Summer Snacking

WESTLAND, Mich - Pool parties, barbecues, trips to the beach, and days at the park. If you're enjoying summer as much as we are, your days have probably been filled with tons of outdoor activities! As much as we all enjoy these fun events, they can sometimes lead to unhealthy food choices. Well, you are not to worry! We here to help you get back on track with some Nutritious Ideas for Summer Snacking that are simple and delicious. These snacks are so good, even the kids will love them!

Cucumber Hummus Cups: This is a no cook snack with two simple ingredients – cucumbers and hummus. Just cut a cucumber into 1/4 inch slices, scoop out the seeds if you prefer (but be sure to leave a thin layer so that the hummus won't go through the bottom), and then top with your favorite hummus!

"Healthy" Ice Cream Bars: These guilt-free "ice cream" bars are actually made with two frozen bananas! Blend the bananas until they are soft and creamy, spoon the mixture onto 2 graham crackers, and place in the freezer for 20-30 minutes. To keep them fun for summer, feel free to dip the sides in sprinkles or chocolate chips before freezing!

Cherry Lime Slurpee: This all-natural slurpee is a great compliment to a hot summer day. Blend up 1 pound of frozen cherries, 4 cups of ice, 1/4 cup of fresh lime juice, and 3 tablespoons of honey. Pour into glasses and enjoy!

Banana Pops: Get as creative as you would like with these banana pops dipped in greek yogurt, peanut butter, and dark chocolate! Some of our personal favorite toppings are granola, chocolate chips, crushed nuts, and shredded coconut!

Snack-Sticks: Kids will love this snack idea! Cut ingredients like carrots, celery, cheese, whole wheat bread and pretzels into sticks and pair with your favorite healthy dip!

Frozen Yogurt Raspberries: Dip fresh raspberries into vanilla greek yogurt, place on wax paper and freeze. It really can't get much easier than this!

Zucchini Chips: Forego those greasy potato chips and give these Zucchini Chips a try! With a few spices and 50 minutes in the oven, you'll have a crunchy and satisfying summer snack!

Ford and Detroit Symphony Orchestra Launch New Free Concert Series

WESTLAND, Mich - Ford Motor Company and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra are launching a new free concert series that will bring live music to the neighborhoods of Detroit. The series titled "DSO on the Go with Ford" will feature 10 free performances by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra throughout various locations around Detroit. The organizations are coming together to prove that classical music can be enjoyed just about anywhere! 

Ford Motor Company is continuing its longstanding commitment to Detroit cultural institutions by enhancing the communities where the company does business. Dating all the way back to the 1930s, Ford was the sponsor for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's live radio broadcasts. Now along with supporting the DSO's free Webcast series, Ford is taking on another initiative. Ford is working hand in hand with the cultural jewel and launching a new free concert series that will increase awareness of the amazing level of artistic and musical ability that lives within the local community. 

DSO on the Go with Ford will have performances on August 5th and 19th at the Ford Resource and Engagement Center (FREC). All additional concerts will be scheduled at a later date. FREC, which opened just last year, supports the rebuilding of Detroit neighborhoods by hosting a community gathering space for residents to acquire new talents, learn new skills and obtain needed services.

Ford Announces Alan Mulally Leadership in Engineering Scholarship Program

WESTLAND, Mich - In honor of their former CEO, Ford Announced the Alan Mulally Leadership in Engineering Scholarship Program.  Alan Mulally has an engineering background and a data-driven decision making process, which helped to pave the way of phenomenal leadership at Ford Motor Company. Now, this $1 million program will honor his legacy and help to provide financial assistance to exceptional students who are pursuing a degree in the automotive engineering field. 

With Alan Mulally Leadership in Engineering program, Ford will provide scholarships the students who not only show strong engineering abilities inside of the classroom, but also demonstrate how they will guide the next generation of leaders within the auto industry. The program will award 10 one-time $10,000 scholarships each year to sophomore or junior engineering students at premier partner universities around the globe. Ford Motor Company and Ford Motor Company Fund will each subsidize $500,000 for the program, which is set to run for the next 10 years beginning in the spring of 2015.

The program will be apart of Ford Fund's "Ford Blue Oval Scholars" initiative. All of the chosen recipients will be connected with the company's corporate science, technology, engineering and math strategic initiative. With these scholarships, Ford education is making a huge effort towards building a new generation of leaders within these key fields.
