Ford F-150 Gets In Shape With the Help of Hefty Men

WESTLAND, Mich. - Ford Motor Company is known for rigorously testing and retesting its vehicles, simply to make sure that they produce the highest quality automobiles on the market. However, Ford has taken the testing to a new, more hilarious, level by enlisting large men to test the durability of the Ford F-150's leather-wrapped truck seats.

With the help of hefty men, the 2015 Ford F-150 is getting into shape before its release date later this year. Ford hired a select group of men that weighed 265 pounds or more, and asked them to dress up in dirty jeans and other rough apparel. These men were then paid anywhere from $60-$70 a day to simply climb in and out of the driver's seat 10,000 times per truck.

This interesting way of testing was meant to see how well the 2015 Ford F-150 could withstand consistent beating and punishment from hard working truck drivers. After having these seat testers climb in and out of the truck for about a week in scorching heat, Ford was able to create leather seats that weigh a combined 30 pounds less than the current seats and are made of higher-strength steel and tougher leather. Despite being lighter than previous models, these seats are designed to withstand wear and tear from the heftiest and grimiest truck drivers imaginable.

Ford Gives $400,000 Donation to Michigan Science Center

WESTLAND, Mich - After the doors closed to the Detroit-based Michigan Science Center back in 2011, there seemed to be little hope of ever seeing the science center open again. That is until Ford Motor Company, DTE Energy Foundation, General Motors, and Toyota stepped in to save the day. On top of a previous $100,000 that was given last year, Ford gave a generous $400,000 donation to the Michigan Science Center. 

The Michigan Science Center was given a second chance to provide educational and interactive learning to children and their families in December of 2012. Millions of dollars in philanthropic support came from 25 different organizations successfully gave the facility a new life. Ford Motor Company is a huge supporter of STEM education (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) and donated a large sum of $400,000 to the science center that will be distributed over a three year period. 

Ford, DTE, EM and Toyota will assist the Michigan Science Center in budgeting their donations as it implements the center's outreach programs. Ford believes deeply in the importance of engagement and interactive learning for the next generation, especially when it comes to science and technology. Which is why they continue to do what they can to aid in the success of the Michigan Science Center.

Since the re-opening, the center has seen roughly 384,000 people walk through the doors, which includes special events, educational programs, and facility rentals. The science center is beyond grateful for all of the generous donations and is looking to utilize the contributions to reach out to more children and families. Ford giving $400,000 to the Michigan Science Center will make room for vast improvements in the center and assist in boosting Detroit and Michigan's economies.

Ford's $80 Million Investment Plan for Kentucky Truck Plant

WESTLAND, Mich - Ford's $80 Million Investment Plan for the Kentucky Truck Plant will refurbish the building and meet the growing demand for Ford F-Series Super Duty Trucks. Ford will also be adding an additional 350 jobs at the plant. Ford Motor Company's investment will pay for much needed facility improvements and in return will help increase the amount of production.

From automation upgrades in the body and paint shops to retooling, the Kentucky Truck Plant could use a face lift. Ford's $80 million investment will cover the plant's refurbishing and in return will create more employment opportunities. The company is hoping that the investment and additional employees, will result in a 15 percent increase in production capacity, or a total of 55, 000 units. 

Customer demand for the F-Series Super Duty has and is continuing to grow rapidly since its debut in 1999. So rapidly in fact that with the 2014 production increase, the plant will build the 5-millionth Ford F-Series Super Duty. Ford is excited to add new jobs to the plant for many reasons, but especially because of the impact it will have on the local community. The demand for the Ford EcoSport, which was launched just last year, is already in very high demand. The "Need-to-Know" About the "Nearly Double" 2014 Fusion Hybrid

WESTLAND, Mich - Were you one of the millions that tuned into the Super Bowl XLVIII last night? If so, you probably saw dozens of great commercials. Naturally, one of our personal favorites is of course Ford Motor Company's "Nearly Double" ad with Rob Riggle and James Franco. In case you were too busy chatting with friends or enjoying some game day food, we are here to fill you in on what you missed. We have all of the "Need-to-Know" about the "Nearly Double" 2014 Fusion Hybrid!

After a little preview last night, it is necessary that we fill you in on all that greatness that the 2014 Ford Fusion is. The EPA-estimated rating of 47 miles per gallon while driving in the city, on the highway, or a combination of both, is just one of the many incredible features this vehicle has to offer.

The gas engine and electric motor work together to give the Fusion 188 net horsepower, allowing the car to travel up to 85 mph on electric power alone. The gas engine kicks in extra power when necessary, like when the driver is passing or merging. The 2014 Ford Fusion's braking system also encompasses efficiency, capturing up to 90 percent of the energy that is normally lost through heat when braking. The system also recycles energy to recharge the hybrid battery.

If all of that wasn't enough, the Fusion gives customers a very nice ride. The eCVT, or Electronically controlled continuously variable transmission, gives the Fusion seamless, gearless shifting. It also compensates for changing vehicle speeds, maintaining the engine level at the peak of efficiency. An aerodynamic design gives the Fusion the ability to reduce aerodynamic drag and also increase efficiency.
