2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid - 47 MPG Rating

Things to NEVER Say to a Police Officer

WESTLAND, Mich.- Have you ever been pulled over by a police officer for speeding? If so, then you know it can be nerve-racking and even frustrating at times, but it's important to avoid saying things that could end up backfiring on you.  By using our list of Things To NEVER Say To A Police Officer you can save yourself some money while making the experience as least painful as possible!

Things to NEVER Say to a Police Officer:

“If I turn my car off, then I won’t be able to turn it on again.”: This excuse will not help you out at all, even if your car truly is in bad shape.  Saying this to a cop may cause for them to think that your vehicle could be unsafe to drive and therefore warrants another ticket.  It’s best just to do as they say and turn your vehicle off, following the officer's orders is the best route.

“I didn’t bring my I.D.”: This excuse is just a terrible idea since driving without a license is illegal and will warrant a hefty fine. But, if you’re a cyclist it's important to know that road rules apply to you too! If you are pulled over by an officer for a road violation, and you don't have your I.D. the officer will ticket you.

“Why don’t YOU tell me how fast I was going?”: Expressing your frustration through sarcasm will only irritate the officer and may lead them to issue you a harsher ticket.  Police officers are people just like you and I, they are simply performing their duty to society and would rather not deal with sarcastic comments.  These are, after all, the same people who would risk their lives to protect you if an emergency arose.

“There were several cars speeding, why didn’t you pull them over?”: Voicing your complaints about getting caught speeding when you believe other cars were speeding too will not help you win them over. Trying to divert the attention to others who were speeding will not help your case since speeding is illegal anyways.

“I don’t know how fast I was going.”:  Playing dumb is definitely not recommended. Police officers deal with people all day so they know when someone is being dishonest. Saying that you don’t know how fast you were going could also make you seem like an inattentive driver which could also land you a ticket. Honesty is always the best policy.

Remember this list of Things to NEVER Say to a Police officer if you ever get pulled over. Remember to breathe and just be honest. Getting a speeding ticket is not the end of the world and definitely not worth arguing with a police officer over. How To: Tips for Keeping your Vehicle in Shape on Rough Roads

WESTLAND, Mich.- Most of us encounter at least one nasty pothole on our work commute. Aside from the minor whiplash your experience, the damage to your vehicle can be even worse. Potholes can even be deadly for motorcyclist and drivers traveling at excessive speeds. So, what is the best way to deal with a pothole? Avoid it completely. Yes, we know that's easier said than done but if you know of a nasty pothole on your daily commute you could try finding an alternative route.

However, if you must drive over a pothole, the best way to go about it is to accelerate over it so the weight of the car is shifted to the rear. Your natural reaction is to hit the breaks, but the entire weight of the car is then shifted to the front and can result in more damage. Don’t get any ideas…We aren’t condoning speeding or unsafe driving, but physics play a major role in this situation. By gently accelerating instead of breaking, you greatly reduce the opportunity for damage.

Another Tip for How To Keep your Vehicle in Shape on Rough Roads is to be aware of pooled water on the road. Not only can pooled water cause a potential hydroplaning situation, but they also can conceal large and dangerous potholes.

Hitting potholes increases the chance of popping a tire and can also affect your vehicles alignment over time as the wheels become less aligned each time you hit a pothole. 2013 Ford Fusion - Lane Keeping System

The new 2013 Ford Fusion is packed with so many new driver-assist features, but you may be asking what are driver assist features? Well, they essentially extend the driver's own senses to keep you safer on the road. Features like the new 2013 Ford Fusion Lane Keeping System will be used as the foundation for safety in future vehicles.

The 2013 Ford Fusion Lane Keeping System is actually pretty straight forward. Lane Keeping helps drivers avoid unintentional lane changes through the use of a lane-detecting camera mounted in the front windshield. When the camera sees the vehicle is getting too close to the white or yellow line it will alert them by gently vibrating the steering wheel. Vibrations aren’t the only things the Lane Keeping System will use to keep you on course. The 'Lane Keeping Aid' takes it step further by applying “steering torque” to the wheel, informing the driver of which way they need to move the wheel in order to get back in the center of the lane. Both features can be used at the same time, or separately.  It's also important to note that the driver can easily override both systems.

September 11th Memorial - Never Forget

WESTLAND, Mich.-  Today we take the time to remember those who were affected by the September 11th attacks in 2001.  North Brothers Ford sends our most heartfelt thoughts to those who lost loved ones that day and we are eternally grateful for those who fight for our freedom each and every day! We will never forget!

Completed on the 10th anniversary of the attacks, the 9/11 Memorial twin reflecting pools that feature North America's largest man made waterfalls, sit where the twin towers used to stand. The memorial pools serve as a national tribute to the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, as well as the six people killed in the World Trade Center bombing in February 1993. Each nearly an acre in size, the reflecting pools are surrounded by lush green trees.  The bronze panels that edge the memorial pools are inscribed with the names of each and every person who died in the attacks.  The September 11th Memorial in New York City serves as powerful reminder of the largest loss of life resulting from a foreign attack on American soil and the greatest single loss of rescue personnel in American history.

The creators of the 9/11 Memorial, architect Michael Arad and landscape architect Peter Walker, were selected to create the September 11th Memorial from a global design competition that attracted 5,200 entries from 63 nations!
