EPA Rates Ford Fiesta at 45mpg on Highway

EPA Rates Ford Fiesta at 45mpg on Highway
WESTLAND, Mich. - The Ford Fiesta has already proven itself to be a favorite among American drivers - now however, it's about to become even more popular, as the EPA has rated the Ford Fiesta at 45 mpg on the highway!

The 2014 Ford Fiesta comes with a new 1.0-liter Ecoboost engine that allows the Fiesta to get the best highway fuel economy of any non-hybrid, gasoline-powered car! Its highway fuel economy clocks in at 45 mpg, with 32 in the city and 37 mpg in combined driving. These numbers are beyond fantastic since they are close to the fuel economy numbers seen on most hybrids and diesels - a feat that is impressive for a car powered by gasoline.

Along with saving you money on fuel, the Ford Fiesta's 1.0-liter Ecoboost engine also boasts a quiet and smooth ride. Although tiny and almost silent, it produces 123 hp and 125 lb.-ft. of torque - that's more power per liter than a Lamborghini Aventador! The Fiesta's new engine also features an overboost function that allows the driver to make more than 145 lb.-ft. for up to 15 seconds.

EPA rates the Ford Fiesta at 45 mpg on the highway, making this a vehicle you should definitely consider getting behind the wheel of. So stop by our Southgate Area Ford Dealership and let us set you up with a test drive! If a small car is not for you, not to worry - we've got a great selection of new vehicles, used cars, and certified pre-owned cars for sale. 2015 Ford Mustang Specs Leak

2015 Ford Mustang Specs Leak
WESTLAND, Mich. - Ford has announced that they will be debuting the 2015 Ford Mustang in December - four months earlier than originally planned - but if it's up to Mustang fans, Ford will only be revealing a car that's old news. First, a computer generated image (like the one above) surfaced after one Mustang fan created a digital representation of the pony car based on the prototypes seen driving around Michigan. Now, the 2015 Ford Mustang specs have leaked, giving all Mustang lovers a peak at what's under the hood.

According to a report on Car and Driver, the 2015 Ford Mustang will have the same engine options as what is in the current model - a 3.7-liter V6 and a "Coyote" 5.0-liter V8. The power ratings are supposed to remain the same as well, with the V6 producing 305HP and 420HP for the V8. The transmissions will most likely remain the same, with a choice of a six speed manual or six speed automatic, although, a ten speed automatic is believed to be in the works.

The engine choices aren't expected to remain the same for too long though, since a GT badged 5.0 liter that will produce 500 HP will be added to the mix.

The technology options are the only aspect of the vehicle to have not been leaked, leaving the Mustang world guessing as to what will be made available in this 50th anniversary model. Thankfully, we won't have to guess for too long since December is right around the corner! Until then, the 2015 Ford Mustang specs that have leaked will hold us over.

If you'd like to check out the current Ford Mustang model, stop by our Southgate Area Ford Dealership! We have a great selection of New Ford Cars, New Ford Trucks, and Certified Pre-owned Cars For Sale - all of which have great technology features! So stop on by and let us help you into a vehicle you'll love.

50 Years of Ford Mustang Colors

50 Years of Ford Mustang Colors
WESTLAND, Mich. - Fifty years have passed since the Ford Mustang was introduced to the public - that means 50 years of Ford Mustang colors. Driving down the road today, you'll see a range of colors on the Ford Mustangs - both new and classic. All of which are a tribute to the Ford Mustang's colorful history.

21 percent of Mustangs ever produced have come in a shade of red, making red the number one color choice for the Ford vehicle. However, black has proven to be the most popular color for 2013-2014 model with 28 percent of all Mustangs being painted black.

50 Years of Ford Mustang Colors

Another color that stands apart as being one of Ford's most popular Mustang colors is blue. Blue hit its peak in 1968 when it was the color of choice for 30 percent of Mustangs, and was again the number one choice in 2010.

Looking past the most popular colors, Ford has sold a vehicle with almost every color paint under the rainbow. This includes colors such as brown - a color that was so unpopular that it hasn't been built since 1989. Other colors such as green and yellow have so little appeal that Ford has discontinued them, except as a limited edition. Other limited edition colors that have been released throughout the years are 'Playboy Pink' in 1967, and a color-changing 'Mystichrome' in 2004.

50 Years of Ford Mustang Colors

50 years of Ford Mustang colors have given us everything from 'Gotta Have It Green' to 'Grabber Blue' to 'Playboy Pink'. While you might not find a bubble gum pink color choice option for the 2014 Ford Mustang, there is still a range of colors that you'll enjoy. So stop by our Southgate Area Ford Dealership and let us go over your vehicle color options with you! If you're not in the market for a Ford Mustang, we also have a great selection of New Ford Cars and New Ford Trucks - all of which have various colored paint jobs.

2015 Ford Edge Spotted

2015 Ford Edge Spotted
WESTLAND, Mich. - The 2015 Ford Edge has been spotted cruising around the outskirts of Detroit recently, giving residents a sneak peek at what's to come for the popular crossover.

Although it's heavily camouflaged, the Ford Edge is easily recognizable by its size, wide stance, and signature three-bar grille - although the grill is looking more three-dimensional than the last model. As for the rest of the Edge's exterior, not much can be said with the thick covering. However, it is believed that the 2015 model won't be updated too drastically in the looks department.

As for the performance of the 2015 Ford Edge that was spotted, the current Edge's V6 engine and turbo-four options are expected to carry over. The 2.0-liter EcoBoost four works well with the current Ford Edge, allowing the crossover to produce 240HP while improving fuel economy drastically. The 3.5-liter V6 engine produces 285HP and 253 lb-ft of torque.

Fortunately, we'll only have to wait another month or so to get all of the specifics on this 2015 Ford Edge. This is because Ford is expected to reveal the redesigned model at the L.A. auto show! Until then, stop by our Southgate Area Ford Dealership today and check out the current model on our lot. If you're looking for something smaller, we have a great selection of New Ford Cars that you'll enjoy getting behind the wheel of. So stop by and say hello!

Ford Cuts Water Use With Dry Machining

WESTLAND, Mich. - Since 2000, Ford has reduced its global water use by 62 percent (about 10 billion gallons) and announced plans earlier this year to pursue the goal of cutting water use by another 30 percent per vehicle by 2015! To help reach this goal, Ford has significantly cut water use with dry machining to continue to work towards its goal of being more environmentally friendly.

Ford Cuts Water Use With Dry MachiningFor a typical production line, hundreds of millions of gallons of water are used per year in the production process. Near-dry machining would help reduce that amount by lubricating cutting tools with a fine spray of oil when and where it is needed. This is a huge change from the previous conventional wet machining methods where the production line would use large amounts of fluid to cool and lubricate the tools in order to make engine and transmissions.

Ford's Cologne Engine Plant in Germany was able to decrease their water use by 50 percent in one year by switching to the near-dry machining process. This process reduces the amount of oil needed by 80 percent while also reducing energy use, and improving the air quality in the plant.  Other plants that use the near-dry machining method are:
  • Craiova Engine Plant (Romania)
  • Livonia Transmission Plant (Michigan)
  • Changan Ford Engine Plant (China)
  • Romeo Engine Plant (Michigan)
  • Cologne Engine Plant (Germany)
  • Van Dyke Transmission Plant ( Michigan)
At North Brothers Ford, we are proud of the efforts that Ford Motor Company takes to ensure that their company is greener and more environmentally friendly - such as cutting water use with dry machining. If you'd like to find out ways that you can become more friendly to the environment, stop by our Southgate Area Ford Dealership and talk to one of our friendly team members! We will be more than happy to give you green tips or show you one of our hybrid and/or electric Ford vehicles. Ford Gives $2.1 Million to University of Michigan Battery Lab

Ford Gives $2.1 Million to University of Michigan Battery Lab
WESTLAND, Mich. - Ford gives $2.1 million to a University of Michigan Battery Lab, that is expected to help researchers test new battery prototypes for hybrid and electric vehicles. The way batteries are currently tested can be time consuming and costly, due to the fact that batteries are tested at the battery production site and then sold to automakers - more specifically, Ford Motor Company. If Ford decides to buy the batteries, they are tested at the Ford facility and then implemented into vehicle production.

Ford Gives $2.1 Million to University of Michigan Battery LabSince this process is so long and the battery goes through so many hands, development of the batteries are slowed down immensely and can become very costly. By creating a battery lab at the University of Michigan, battery manufacturers, researchers, and automakers will be able to come together and develop batteries quickly and more efficiently. It also gives automakers a chance to have input much earlier in the development process.

The goal for creating this lab is to develop batteries that are smaller, lighter, and less expensive to produce. The current batteries in hybrid and electric cars are made of expensive materials, which in turn, raises the price tag of the fuel-efficient, environmentally friendly vehicles. If Ford is able to find a less expensive way to produce batteries that are more efficient for your car, the price tag will see a decrease - something all Ford consumers will love!

Ford has given $2.1 million towards the University of Michigan lab, but other investors include the University of Michigan, Michigan Economic Development Corporation, and the U.S. Department of Energy.

If you'd like to check out the Ford Fusion Energi or the Ford C-Max Energi - two vehicles that use the above mentioned engines - stop by our Southgate Area Ford Dealership! We have a great selection of New Ford Cars and Low Mileage Used Cars, both of which have a few hybrid/electric vehicles that you'll love. So come on by and let us help find you a vehicle that you'll love!

Ford Tests Car That Can Park By Itself

WESTLAND, Mich. - Ford tested a car that can park by itself in Belgium this week, experimenting with the technology that would allow your vehicle to navigate itself into a tight spot - with or without you behind the wheel.

The technology, better known as Fully Assisted Parking Aid, uses ultrasonic sensors to scan the area for parking spaces up to 18 mph. That means, as you're cruising through a parking ramp or down a side street looking for a parking space, your vehicle is already scoping out the area for you. The car will then alert the driver to a space, giving you enough time to stop and not bypass it.

After you and your vehicle have located a space, you will put your car  into neutral and then push a parking button - from inside the car or outside via the keyfob. The vehicle would then take over for you and control the steering, acceleration, braking and guidance systems until it has moved itself into the space - this works for both diagonal and perpendicular parking.

Ford Tests Car That Can Park By Itself
Ford currently offers an Active Park Assist technology on its vehicles, which helps you steer the wheel into parallel parking spaces. The only difference is that the driver must still apply the gas and brakes. The Fully Assisted Parking Aid would have complete control when parking, giving you the option to make your vehicle do all of the work.

Ford is currently testing cars that can park by themselves, but aren't releasing a ton of information just yet. This means that the Fully Assisted Parking Aid technology hasn't been linked to any specific Ford vehicle just yet, but the Active Park Assist is available in numerous current models. If you'd like to discover which ones, or even take one of our New Ford Cars or New Ford Trucks out for a test drive, come see us! Our knowledgeable sales team would be more than happy to help you with any of your vehicle needs - from Car Loans to Used Car Value to test drives.

2015 Ford F-Series Super Duty Gets an Update

2015 Ford F-Series Super Duty Gets an Update
WESTLAND, Mich. - Ford Motor Company works hard to continually improve its vehicles - America's favorite truck, the Ford F-Series, is no exception. The 2015 Ford F-Series Super Duty gets an update with a second-generation 6.7L Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel engine; a Texas-inspired King Ranch model; and increased towing capabilities.

The 6.7L Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel engine has been redeveloped to improve performance. This updated engine now has a shorter airflow from the exhaust system to the turbocharger - this provides the driver with torque more quickly. They have also repositioned the turbo inside the engine's valley to help isolate the engine's hot temperatures. This will improve performance and efficiency, as well as reduce noise and vibration.

The increased towing capabilities have not been officially announced, although Ford has confirmed that the numbers will be more impressive than the 2014 model. They have also confirmed that the engine will produce more power than the current 400 hp and 800 lb.-ft. of torque.

As for the Texas-inspired King Ranch model, most of the changes are aesthetic in nature. The Super Duty King Ranch will now have a 'W' on the wheel caps, stitched into the seatbacks, and made clearly visible on the center console. The exterior accent color will also be darker and the Mesa leather inside the car will be lighter.
2015 Ford F-Series Super Duty Gets an Update
The 2015 Ford F-Series Super Duty has been updated but most likely won't be available to purchase until next year. However, we have a great selection of 2014 New Ford Trucks available right now that you'll love for their reliability, capability, and power.
