5 Tire Safety Tips

5 Tire Safety Tips
WESTLAND, Mich. - With the holiday weekend rapidly approaching, millions of drivers across the country will be getting ready to take their car on the road. If you're one of the millions, you've probably started to pack and prepare your vehicle for the weekend ahead. However, one aspect of the car that many drivers forget to check is their tires. To keep your tires healthy and functional, here are 5 tire safety tips.

First, invest in a tire gauge. For only a couple of dollars, you can rest easy that your tires are always properly inflated and being properly maintained. Tires that are inflated to their ideal pressure not only are better for your car, but also more fuel efficient! To find out your cars perfect pressure, check your owner's manual.

5 Tire Safety TipsSecond, be aware of the tread on your tires. There is a simple test you can perform to test the tread, called the penny test. Simply take a penny and put it in the tread of your tire with Abraham Lincoln's
head facing down. If you can see the top of his head, your tires need to be replaced.

A third tip is that you should regularly rotate your tires. Every 6,000-8,000 miles, rotate your tires to make sure they're wearing evenly. Depending on how your vehicle drives, some tires may become worn more quickly than the rest - by rotating your tires, you ensure that the wear is equal.

Continuing with the importance of monitoring the wear on your tires, replace your rear tires first. If for whatever reason you can only purchase 2 new tires, those tires should be put on the rear. Your rear tires provide the most stability and prevent your car from fishtailing - so replace those first!

Our final tip is to be aware of your driving habits. Your driving habits play a huge role in the life of your tires. If you drive aggressively at high speeds, or frequently come to a hard stop, your tires are going to wear more quickly. Also make sure to avoid hitting curbs, or going over potholes.

We hope that the 5 tire safety tips provided will help you extend the life of your tires. If you're in need of new tires, or are unsure how to check your current ones, stop by our Northville Area Ford Dealer. Our team members would be more than willing to help you select the tires for your vehicle, or even give you more tips on extending the life of your current tires. 4 Features You'll Love in 2014 Ford Vehicles

4 Features You'll Love in 2014 Ford Vehicles
WESTLAND, Mich. - Ford is known for constantly evolving, as it works to continually develop and improve upon the features that appear in Ford vehicles. 2013 saw the introduction of MyFord Touch and various other technology, and now it's time for the 2014 models to drive in the spotlight. Although there is a variety of technology in the 2014 models, here are 4 features we love in 2014 Ford vehicles.

1. Multicontour front seats with ActiveMotion. This system is amazing for a long drive, as it helps reduce muscle-fatigue in your legs and lower back. The seats use a rolling-pattern massage which givesyour legs and lower back some relief. You can also customize the seven air chambers in the seat back and bottom to make your seat as comfortable as possible. Currently this feature is found on the 2014 Ford Taurus.

2. Torque Vectoring Control. This is a great feature designed with your drive in mind. The Torque Vectoring Control adjusts the speed between your front wheels, allowing your vehicle to hug the road and accelerate through a corner. This enhances cornering agility and reduces understeer (when a car steers less than the amount commanded by the driver). You'll find this feature on the 2014 Ford Taurus, 2014 Ford Focus, 2014 Ford Escape and the 2014 Ford C-Max.

4 Features You'll Love in 2014 Ford Vehicles3. Hands-Free Lift-gate. When you have your hands full, it can be a real pain trying to get your trunk open. That's why this feature is such a great one to have! If you have your Intelligent Access key on you, all you have to do is kick your foot under the bumper and the lift-gate will open. This convenient feature is offered with the 2014 Ford Escape, and the current 2013 Ford C-Max.

4. Active Grille Shutters. This feature is designed to reduce drag on your vehicle when air travels through your radiator which can reduce the fuel efficiency of your vehicle. With the Active Grille Shutters feature, your vehicle keeps the shutters closed until the engine needs cooling. These shutters can be found on the 2014 Ford Escape, the 2014 Ford Focus, and the 2014 Ford Taurus.

These 4 features and more can be found in 2014 Ford vehicles, ensuring that Ford vehicles continue to offer you the best ride possible. If you'd like to discuss what other features are available, or check out the vehicles mentioned above, stop by our Dearborn Area Ford Dealer today! Million Dollar Ford GTR1 Produces 1,024-Horsepower

Million Dollar Ford GTR1 Produces 1,024-Horsepower
WESTLAND, Mich. - Some names, such as Ford, become so great and influential that they become household names. The name Beau Boeckmann has recently become pretty popular, as the man behind the name has just built a million dollar Ford GTR1 that produces 1,024-horsepower.

Million Dollar Ford GTR1 Produces 1,024-HorsepowerBoeckmann runs the performance side of the nation's largest Ford dealership, Galpin Motors, in Los Angeles. He says he had a recurring question run through his head: what would have happened if Ford had continued developing the Ford GT? Instead of waiting for an answer, Boeckmann decided to answer it for himself.

Taking the GT, which was only produced from 2004 to 2006, Boeckmann redesigned and revamped the super-car, making it a vehicle with a vast amount of power beneath its shiny exterior. The Ford GTR1 (also called the Galpin Ford GTR1) has a twin-turbocharged engine that produces 1,024 horsepower and a six-speed manual transmission. The horsepower has been increased substantially from the 550 horsepower in the supercharged original.

Million Dollar Ford GTR1 Produces 1,024-HorsepowerAs for the GTR1's appearance, it's been updated quite a bit since the last model - not to mention, this fast machine comes with newer, stronger brakes. As for the price tag, this car won't come cheap. If you'd like to buy a GTR1, it will cost you more than $1 million.

While it's nice to dream about the million dollar Ford GTR1 that produces 1,024-horsepower, we have million dollar quality cars for a fraction of the cost on our lot. So stop by our Dearborn Area Ford Dealer today and check out our large selection of New Ford Cars and New Ford Trucks - all vehicles that you're sure to love!

Ford is Teaming Up With Russian Space Robots to Help Make Your Car Safer

Ford is Teaming Up With Russian Space Robots to Help Make Your Car Safer
WESTLAND, Mich. - The potential installation of vehicle-to-vehicle communication has been discussed quite frequently over the past few months, as Ford tries to gather information about how this communication will affect drivers. As part of this information gathering process, Ford is teaming up with Russian space robots to help make your car safer - we're not joking.

The communication system that exists between the International Space Station and Earth is one of the most advanced and effective ever created. To better understand how this communication flow works, Ford will be teaming up with Russian researchers to observe and learn how they communicate with their robots in space. The information gathered will be used to create the most effective and useful vehicle-to-vehicle communication possible.

The vehicle-to-vehicle communication will work on something called a 'mesh network', meaning that communication is wireless and sort of 'blanketed' across cars. Ford is concerned about what would happen if an accident were to occur and a vehicle's communication system were damaged or taken offline. To better understand this issue, Ford will be examining specifically how Russian researchers keep their communication systems constantly functioning - even in the wake of a system outage. This will allow Ford to create an emergency messaging protocol that will keep drivers informed about a damaged vehicle, even if the vehicle is 'offline'.

Ford is teaming up with Russian space robots to help make your car safer - sort of. They may not be teaming up with space robots exactly, but they are working to make your vehicle as safe as possible - something that Ford is known for. With so many vehicles on the market that have been given top safety ratings, such as the 2013 Ford Focus, Ford is making strides in safety features for your vehicle.  If you'd like to discuss what Ford vehicles have the best safety features, stop by our Northville Area Ford Dealer today. Our friendly and helpful team members can help you with everything from Car Loans to New Ford Cars to Certified Pre-Owned Cars For Sale. So come see us today and let us help you into a vehicle you'll love for years to come!

2015 Ford Mustang Spotted With a New Face

2015 Ford Mustang Spotted With a New Face
WESTLAND, Mich. - The 2015 Ford Mustang has been spotted with a new face - and it's a great one. Out for a test run, the pony car was seen with a few of its heavy covers off, allowing for photographers to get a great shot of the new 'Stang's face.

While the rest of the 2015 Mustang's body was camouflaged, the front fascia was completely visible. It's clear that Ford is getting inspiration from the Evos concept and the retro lines of the 2014 Mustang model, since the pony car's face seems to be an equal mixture of both. Despite the inspiration being obvious, with its menacing lines the 2015 Ford Mustang's face is much more aggressive than its predecessor.

While the 2015 Ford Mustang has been spotted with a new face, information about this car is scarce. An insider recently revealed that the dimensions of the car are going to change drastically, as it will be 15 inches shorter in length and a half foot narrower. By making the vehicle smaller, the vehicle is expected to shed about 400 pounds.

As for how the vehicle will perform, it is believed that the 2015 Mustang will come standard with a 3.7-liter V-6 engine, while the 2015 Ford Mustang GT will receive an upgraded 5.0-liter V-8. For other specifications, we'll all have to wait until further information is released, or the vehicle is unveiled at the Ford Mustang's 50th anniversary next year. However, we do have a complete list of specifications for the 2014 Ford Mustang, which is for sale on our lot right now. Stop by our Dearborn Area Ford Dealer today and take it for a test drive - we know you'll love being behind the pony car's wheel.

We are also Dearborn's Used Car Dealer, so whether you're in the market for a New Ford Car or a Certified Pre-owned Car For Sale, we are the place to stop. North Brothers Ford, located at 33300 Ford Rd Westland, MI 48185, is proud to be one of the premier dealerships in Southeast Michigan committed to exceptional customer service! Safety Tips For Getting Kids Back-To-School

Safety Tips For Getting Kids Back-To-School
WESTLAND, Mich. - The days are getting shorter and the summer is ending - this can only mean that school is around the corner. With so many buses on the road and children flooding the streets in school zones, many people forget the safety rules and laws regarding schools, buses, and more. That's why we've gathered some safety tips for getting kids back-to-school.

  1. Obey the school bus. When a bus has its red lights on, or has a stop arm out, it is illegal to pass. Unless you are on a divided highway, you must wait until the lights have shut off or the arm has folded back. These lights and signs are to make drivers aware that children are getting on or off the bus. Many school buses now have cameras installed meaning that if you disregard the school bus, the camera will catch you and the bus driver will be able to forward your information to the police.
  2. If your kids don't ride the bus, practice walking to school. Especially if you have children that are under the age of 12! By walking the children to school, you can make sure they are taking the safest route and also ensure that they are following all the rules concerning when to cross, where to cross, and looking both ways. 33% of youth pedestrian crashes are caused by children darting out into the road - this is especially common if kids are walking with their friends and perhaps not paying close attention to their surroundings. So take the time to remind your kids to cross at corners and/or marked crosswalks - never between parked cars.
  3. Be aware of school zones. In Michigan, the typical speed limit is anywhere between 15 mph-25 mph in a school zone, so be aware that you will need to slow down. You should also be aware of the hours that the school zone is enforced. Some zones continue until 7 p.m. or later due to after school activities.
  4. Make your kids aware of strangers. If your kids don't take the bus home, teach them about getting into cars with strangers. It's good for your child to know exactly what to do should a stranger offer them a ride. Also, if you are not able to pick them up and therefore must have someone else give them a ride, communicate with your children that someone other than you will be picking them up.
It's important for you and your family to be safe, both inside and outside the vehicle - that's why we've given you these safety tips for getting kids back-to-school. We can also help you into a safer, more reliable vehicle at our Northville Area Ford Dealer. We have a wide selection of New Ford Trucks and Certified Pre-Owned Cars For Sale, meaning you're sure to find a vehicle that you'll love.

9 Ways To Save Big on Back-To-School Shopping

9 Ways To Save Big on Back-To-School Shopping
WESTLAND, Mich. - It's that time of year again when the kids return to school while the parents face the stress of ensuring their children have everything they need. Between new clothes, supplies, goodies for school lunches and more, back-to-school shopping can get very expensive, very quickly. To help alleviate some of your stress and help you save a few bucks, here are 9 ways to save big on back-to-school shopping.

  1. Wait until you receive the school supply list. Many parents want to get the shopping done as quickly as possible, so they will go out and buy whatever they think their child may need - this is the easiest way to overspend. A lot of schools/teachers will supply the students with specific supplies, meaning it's a supply you won't have to purchase. If you wait until you receive the school supply list, you'll be able to get exactly what your child needs without overspending on things they don't.
  2. Make a budget. Know exactly how much you have to spend on supplies and stick with it. If you find that you're going over your budget, try to eliminate supplies that your child may not need right away/may not need at all.
  3. If you're buying books, buy them online. Books can get expensive very quickly - especially if you're buying college textbooks. By using websites such as Half.com, Amazon.com or CheapestTextbooks.com, you can get used books at half the cost.
  4. Don't rush to buy supplies! Most Americans stock up on supplies the minute they are put on the shelf. If you can, wait until after Labor Day - everything will go on sale. So stock up on what your kids will need the first day but hold off on items they may not need until later.
  5. Use coupons! Don't be afraid to peruse the newspapers and clip, clip, clip. You can save a ton with coupons, especially during the back-to-school season. You can also find coupons on sites such as RetailMeNot.com and CouponCabin.com.
  6. Price match. Stores like Target are more than willing to price match. So whether you find a supply cheaper on Amazon or at Walmart, bring proof of the price in and have them match it.
  7. Social Media is a great tool. Many stores will try to attract more fans and followers, so they will offer deals that are exclusive to their Facebook/Twitter pages. So find your favorite stores and 'like' them!
  8. Communicate with parents in the community. Other parents may have gently used supplies and/or clothes, or even items that are brand new! They might be willing to swap for items that you have, or maybe sell them to you at a cheap price. It never hurts to look!
  9. Shop for next year's supplies, THIS year. After the rush to buy back-to-school supplies has died down, stores will  reduce the price of supplies significantly. This is a great time to swoop in and pick up supplies that you know your kids will need next year.
We hope that these 9 ways to save big on back-to-school shopping will help you financially during this time of year - having the kids go back-to-school can sometimes be stressful, so your finances shouldn't have to be. We can also help you save a few dollars on a New Ford Car or Certified Pre-Owned Cars For Sale at our Northville Area Ford Dealer. Our knowledgeable sales staff knows exactly how to help you save big with rebates and employee pricing - so stop by today!

Ford Escape Gets Recycled Plastic Bottle Interior

Ford Escape Gets Recycled Plastic Bottle Interior
WESTLAND, Mich. - Ford Motor Company is continually evolving and become more green in every aspect. That's why the Ford Escape is getting a recycled plastic bottle interior - sort of. Ford will be using recycled plastic bottles and other recycled materials to create various parts of the vehicle.

It's been calculated that the U.S. consumes 1500 plastic water bottles every second. The Ford Escape would use 25 of those bottles to make the carpeting of each vehicle - which at the rate that water bottles are consumed, each person could recycle enough bottles in one year to provide carpeting for 15 new Escapes. Ford has reported that since the Escape went on sale, nearly 7 million water bottles have been kept out of the landfill.

Before the plastic bottles, or any other recycled material, makes it into the interior of your car, it is put through rigorous durability testing. One test that is used is called a Taber 5150 which puts about 5-10 years of wear on carpet in about 10 minutes. After extensive testing, the recycled plastic bottles actually helped reduce wear significantly. A material is only used if it is the best meaning you get only the best quality.

The Ford Escape is getting a recycled plastic bottle interior, but it's not the only one. Many cars will have recycled parts as Ford expands its effort to stay green. If you'd like to see what recycled materials are currently in our cars, stop by our Northville Area Ford Dealer today! Our specialists can go over all the details with you, no matter if you're interested in a New Ford Truck or New Ford Car.

Survey Shows Gender Affects Car-Shopping Decisions

Survey Shows Gender Affects Car-Shopping Decisions

WESTLAND, Mich. - A survey recently collected data from 13,000 U.S. adults who visited KBB.com (Kelley Blue Book) between January and June and found that gender affects car-shopping decisions. Surveys were anonymous and linked to responders' online shopping data, allowing the site to observe the shopping habits of the two genders.

The survey found that gender affects car-shopping decisions in a variety of ways. Data found that 76 percent of women tended to search for safety features, while only 61 percent of men do so. Women tend to gravitate towards cars with great safety ratings, as well as vehicles that are fuel efficient. 67 percents of women searched for 'fuel efficient' when searching for their next vehicle, while only 48 percent of men did.

When it comes to what men look for the most, it tends to be vehicles that are more 'rugged'. 28 percent of men were likely to shop for vehicles that are considered 'durable', 'tough', and/or 'fast', while only 19 percent of women used these search terms. The survey also revealed that men are more likely to stick with the brands they grew up with.

Overall, the data showed overwhelming support that women tend to gravitate towards cars that are safe and affordable, while men focus on the exterior styling and 'rugged' reputations.

Whether you agree with these results or not, we have a great selection of vehicles that can satisfy safety, affordability, exterior styling and more! Whether you're interested in New Ford Cars, New Ford Trucks, or a used vehicle, we have something for everyone. So stop by our Dearborn Area Ford Dealer today and we'll make sure that you leave happy.

American Vehicles Living Longer Than Ever

American Vehicles Living Longer Than Ever
WESTLAND, Mich. - The Polk research firm has evaluated state registration data and discovered that American's vehicles are living longer than ever. In January of this year, the average age of the 247 millions cars and trucks in America hit an all-time high of 11.4 years.

With American's vehicles living longer than ever, there has been a drastic decrease in the amount of cars sent to the junk yard - about a 50% decrease to be exact. The data also revealed that the average life of a vehicle has increased from the 9.7 year life span of a decade ago.

The reason that vehicles are lasting longer is simply because they are of a higher quality than the vehicles of the past. New technology continues to improve cars and trucks, allowing them to perform more efficiently and last longer. Cars are not rusting out as they did in the past, and engines are continually improving and performing better - all of these improvements combined gives you a vehicle that you can rely on for years to come.

The Polk research firm believes that the percentage of cars age 12 or older will continue to rise in the next five years, simply because of the continuous improvements that are being made to vehicles. The amount of vehicles on the road will also increase as well, as 260 millions cars are expected to be on the road by 2018 - when the population of America will hit about 335.4 million.

Vehicle's continue to improve as the years progress - this is especially true for Ford cars and trucks. We work hard to make sure that you have a car you can depend on and feel secure about. If you'd like to take one of our dependable vehicles out for a test drive, stop by our Northville Area Ford Dealer today! Ford Uses New Training Program for 1,400 New Employees

WESTLAND, Mich. - Shortly after Ford announced that they will be hiring 3,000 new employees over the next couple of months, they released a statement saying that Ford will use a new training program for 1,400 new employees. This training program, currently being used at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Flat Rock, Mich. will eventually become the standard way of training new hires.

At the Flat Rock Assembly Plant, they have recently hired 1,400 new employees to keep up with the demand for the Ford Fusion. As production kicks into overdrive, the factory will need these 1,400 new hires to be ready on the assembly line - that's where the new training program, a simulated factory, comes into play.

Ford is using this new training program for all 1,400 new employees and it's a huge success. This simulated factory allows new hires to become quickly acquainted with how the assembly line works. Many new hires have never seen, let along stepped foot on, an assembly line in action. This simulation let's them experience the assembly line without actually affecting the build of the Ford vehicles. The factory simulation lasts for about 5 days, where each employee rotates between 10 different stations over the course of an 8-hour shift. Each station teaches them something new - whether it's working on brake lines, installing radiator hoses, or similar tasks, the employees get to experience it all.

If you'd like to check out the Ford Fusion that is currently in high demand, stop by our Northville Area Ford Dealer today! We have a great selection of New Ford Cars and Certified Pre-Owned Cars For Sale, meaning we guarantee that you'll find something you love!
