Ford Works with Habitat for Humanity to Help Revitalize Detroit Neighborhood
WESTLAND, Mich. - Ford is once again working to benefit the community, as it is currently working with Habitat for Humanity to help revitalize a Detroit Neighborhood. Ford has lent a fleet of 2013 Ford F-150 trucks, along with members of Ford Volunteer Corps, to the Detroit Habitat for Humanity's housing project to help build their milestone 100th home.

This isn't the first time that Ford has worked with Habitat for Humanity to help revitalize a Detroit neighborhood. Ford is known for doing such volunteer work, as over 25,000 Ford employees each year volunteer across the globe to build houses, provide food, and help those in need. Since 1990, Ford Motor Company has given over $3.5 million in grants to Habitat for Humanity, with nearly half of that going to the Detroit location.

The Habitat for Humanity Detroit is a nonprofit organization that works to eliminate homelessness from the world. They encourage locals to come together and build houses for families in need; all supplies are donated from  local businesses and all labor is volunteer. If you'd like to volunteer, we recommend heading over to their website www.habitatdetroit.org.

Ford F-150 Named the Most American Car of 2013

Ford F-150 Named the Most American Car of 2013
WESTLAND, Mich. - After being named the best light-duty pickup truck last week, the Ford F-150 has now been named the most American car of 2013 by Cars.com! While we've always believed that nothing says American more than a Ford pickup truck, it's now a unanimously agreed upon title.

Ford F-150: The Most American Car of 2013 has a nice ring to it, and apparently Cars.com agreed! Every year the website compiles a list of the Most American vehicles by taking into account the amount of American made parts used on the vehicle, where the vehicle is assembled, and how many are sold per year.

On the website, Cars.com notes that the amount of American made parts in the Ford F-150 hasn't changed (75% of the parts are made in the U.S), but there has been an increase in vehicles sold; this is what bumped the pickup truck up to number one. The Ford F-150 U.S. assembly locations are Dearborn, MI and Claycomo, MO.

If you'd like to own the most American vehicle on the market, stop by our Plymouth Area Ford Dealership today and check it out! Ford Reveals Photos of Never Produced Mustang

Ford Reveals Photos of Never Produced Mustang
WESTLAND, Mich. - In the midst of swirling rumors concerning the 2015 Ford Mustang, Ford Motor Company reveals photos of a never produced Mustang. This Mustang may have been a looker, but it's one that never made it past the initial design stage; despite that, it still remains a part of Ford's long history.

These photos of the never produced Mustang show that this car resembled a race car more than the other Mustangs that have been produced. With it's roadster top, vents, sleek interior and overall sporty look, it's an aggressive 'stang with style. However, the sporty style proved to not be satisfactory to the automaker, as the vehicle never actually made it to the production line.

Ford Reveals Photos of Never Produced Mustang
The Mustang that was produced, the 1964 Ford Convertible, was one that pleased the masses; in fact, Ford had to go into overdrive to produce the vehicle since it was flying off the lots faster than it could be produced. This Mustang frenzy is expected to happen again, as rumors are circling about the 2015 Mustang.  Although not much is known about the 2015 Ford vehicle just yet, it is expected to debut in April of 2014 as the Ford Mustang celebrates its 50 year anniversary.

Do you like the look of this never produced Mustang, but prefer the newer models? Then take a look at the current 2013 Ford Mustang brochure or stop in at see us today at your Plymouth Area Ford Dealership. North Brothers Ford, located at 33300 Ford Rd Westland, MI 48185, is proud to be one of the premier dealerships in Southeast Michigan committed to exceptional customer service! Stop by or give us a call at (888) 806-7163, our knowledgeable sales team will be happy to help!

2013 Ford F-150 is Best Light-Duty Pickup Truck

2013 Ford F-150 is Best Light-Duty Pickup Truck
WESTLAND, Mich. - The 2013 Ford F-150 has been named the best light-duty pickup truck on the market by PickupTrucks.com and Popular Mechanics Magazine.  Facing off against five other competing pickup trucks, the Ford F-150 proved itself to be a head above the rest in capability and performance.

The 2013 Ford F-150 was named the best light-duty pickup truck, but the title wasn't one that was handed over easily.  The pickup trucks were pushed to the limit as they were rigorously tested for acceleration, braking, fuel economy and more.  Out of the 13 tests that competitors were subjected to, the Ford F-150 took first or second place in 11 of them, which made the vehicle stand apart as a true champion.  Mark Williams, editor of PickupTrucks.com was quoted as saying, "If this were the Olympics, there would be a new Ford F-150 on a cereal box."

While the pickup truck won't be found on a box of Wheaties, it will continue to be the best pickup truck in America. For 36 consecutive years the Ford F-150 has been the best-selling truck in the country, and  for 31 years, the best-selling vehicle.  It is also the brand with the most trucks on the road with 250,000 miles or more - but with a vehicle whose slogan is "Built Ford Tough", you wouldn't expect anything less!

If you'd like to test the durability of the Ford F-150 for yourself, stop by our Plymouth Area Ford Dealership today and check it out! Ways That Ford Integrates Sustainability into the Company

All the Ways That Ford Integrates Sustainability into the Company
WESTLAND, Mich. - After grabbing the number two spot on Interbrand's 2013 Best Global Green Brands Report, a hot topic of discussion is all the ways that Ford integrates sustainability into the company. Ford is environmentally sustainable in  numerous ways, and it continually evolves to be more efficient and environmentally friendly. Although continuing to change, here are just a few ways that Ford integrates sustainability into the company:

  • Ford has set a 30 percent water-use-per-vehicle reduction goal for itself, hoping to achieve this goal by 2015. However, they have already decreased it by 25 percent since 2009 meaning they could easily exceed their goal by 2015! Just to put the 25 percent in perspective, they have saved 10.6 billion gallons of water since their first move towards conservation in 2000.
  • Between 2000 and 2012, Ford has achieved a 37 percent decrease in carbon emissions per vehicle. This does wonders for the greenhouse gases in our atmosphere, ensuring the Ford contributes to global warming as little as possible.
  • With a goal to reduce the amount of waste-to-landfill by 40 percent per vehicle by 2016, Ford has already reduced the amount by 19 percent over the course of one year. They are able to do this by incorporating recycled materials into the production of their vehicles, such as the 2013 Ford Fusion's seat fabric that is made from recycled plastic water bottles and post-industrial waste.
  • Improved global energy efficiency by 6.4 percent! This means that Ford is working on reducing the amount of energy required to make one of their vehicles. 6.4 percent in all of their factories around the world is a huge step in the right direction.
While these are only a few of the changes that Ford has made to make their company more sustainable, there is still so much that Ford continues to do to become more sustainable. Ford Motor Company works everyday to become more efficient, hoping to contribute to making the world a greener and healthier place.

Summer Driving Safety Tips

Summer Driving Safety Tips
WESTLAND, Mich. - Each time summer rolls around, many can't wait to experience driving with the windows down and the wind in your hair. As summer is usually associated with nice weather, nobody tends to think about the dangers of driving during these warm months. In fact, according to Ford Motor Company, a new survey showed that many parents and teens believe the winter months to be the season with the most accidents - especially for teen drivers. This is, in fact, not true, as summer has revealed to have the highest number of teen driver fatalities.

While it is a combination of multiple factors, the survey seemed to suggest that this is because many drivers speed because of nice driving conditions; there are more distractions such as loud music and friends; and safe driving habits are not enforced. Knowing that it is important to be safe, no matter the season, we have a few summer driving safety tips:

Be Aware of Holidays
Did you know that July 4th is the deadliest day of the year to drive? With so many people traveling to be with friends and family, be aware that there will be a large amount of people on a small stretch of highway. If you can't avoid the highway, be vigilant and aware of those around you. By practicing safe driving habits, the holiday can be a safe and happy one for all.

Prep Your Car
The summer heat takes a toll on all vehicles, so make sure to check your fluids and listen for any abnormal sounds.  If you have any questions or concerns, or simply need help maintaining your car, we can assist you at North Brothers Ford.

Limit Your Distractions
It's easy to be distracted during the summer since it's so tempting to roll the windows down, blare the music and have fun with your passengers. It's okay to have fun, but limit your distractions by having a passenger adjust the radio, navigate GPS, make phone calls, text, etc. Let your passengers assist you with the distractions, while you focus on getting to your destination safely.

Don't Speed
Make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to get to your destination so you aren't tempted to speed. During the winter, we're used to accounting for weather conditions to make sure we arrive safely and on time. But give yourself time during the summer too, and make sure that you're obeying all traffic laws too.

Buckle Up
This is possibly one of the most important safety tips we could give you, as buckling up is so important - and against the law if you don't! Statistics show that seat belt usage is lowest among teenagers, even though seat belts are the number 1 life-saving device in accidents.

Summer is a great time of year, especially after spending anywhere from 5-8 months in dreaded Michigan winter. By following these summer driving safety tips, you can ensure the safety of you, your passengers and your fellow drivers. Summer is about having fun in the sunshine, so enjoy the warm months and be safe!

Want to get your vehicle looked over before the heat sets in? Bring it in to our Plymouth Area Ford Dealership location and our specialists can answer any questions that you may have! We can also help you get into a new vehicle if you're looking for a new ride this summer. With a huge selection of Low Mileage Pre-Owned Cars and Certified Pre-Owned Cars For Sale, we can help you find a car you will love.

'Built Ford Tough' Tag Line Turns 35

'Built Ford Tough' Tag Line Turns 35
WESTLAND, Mich. - While most companies tend to change up their tag lines on a pretty regular basis, Ford has stuck by their well-known slogan - and it's served them well. Probably one of the most recognized phrases in the country, the 'Built Ford Tough' tag line turned 35 this past weekend.

The 'Built Ford Tough' slogan turned 35 this past weekend and is still going strong. Representing the durability of the Ford brand, the slogan has also become a phrase that many around the world recognize immediately. Why fix something that isn't broken, right?

First used in 1979, the 'Built Ford Tough' slogan has served Ford successfully for many reasons. Not only is it simple and to the point, but it is also true. It represents Ford's truck line accurately because Ford trucks are tough and built sturdy. Aspiring Automotive Technicians Face Off in Dearborn

WESTLAND, Mich. - With so much currently happening in the auto industry, and jobs up 30 percent since April 2012, it should come as no surprise that high school seniors are expressing a desire in the automotive field.  Ford works hard to fan this flame, allowing high school juniors and seniors to participate in the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills Competition. This competition let's aspiring automotive technicians face off in Dearborn, MI, with the hopes of winning scholarships and prizes.

Over 100 potential automotive technicians face off in Dearborn during the week of June 10, 2013, all hoping to win one of the scholarships and prizes that are available. Although the prizes and scholarships range depending on which place the team takes, the winning team gets a chance to spend a week with 2011 Daytona 500 winner, Trevor Bayne. During the exciting week, the winning team will get the chance to work with the Woods Brothers Racing Team and become an honorary pit crew member during the race.

This competition isn't just for anyone however, as over 13,000 interested high schoolers contended and only 100 will compete. After having to take a grueling online exam that measured the skill and knowledge of each test taker, the best 100 scores were taken, and were then split up into teams to compete at the Dearborn competition.  At the competition, they will race against each other as they fix previously planted flaws in 2013 Ford Explorer SUVs. Out of 13,000 hopefuls, these 100 potential technicians are the best of the best, which is sure to make for an interesting time!

It's great to see interest in the auto industry being revived, as the automobile community is beginning to thrive once again. If you're interested in what new and exciting things the auto world has in store for you, come visit our North Brothers Ford Plymouth Area Ford Dealership where we can help you with Car Loans for a new vehicle, or show you the best deals on our Low Mileage Pre-Owned Cars.

Ford Doubles Small EcoBoost Engine Production - Coming to the U.S Soon

Ford Doubles Small EcoBoost Engine Production - Coming to the U.S Soon

WESTLAND, Mich. - Ford Motor Company announced today that they will be doubling the production of their 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine, due to high demand. The Cologne, Germany based engine plant will now be making more than 1,000 engines a day, hoping to triple the yearly production to around 480,000 engines by 2015, compared to 141,000 in 2011.

The EcoBoost engine is a turbocharged, petrol engine that is designed to deliver the power and torque of a larger engine, while achieving around 20% better fuel efficiency and producing 15% less greenhouse gases. This eco-friendly engine is a step in the direction of green living, and was named the 2013 International Engine of the Year for the second year in a row.

Ford plans to double small EcoBoost engine production due to an increase in demand that stems partly from the fact that the EcoBoost engine will soon be sold in the United States. The engine will be featured in the new Ford Fiesta later this year. Although it has been available in Europe, this is the first time that the engine will be offered in a vehicle to the United States. Thanks to the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine, the 2014 Ford Fiesta is expected to reach 34 mpg, with an estimated 197 HP and 214 lb-ft torque with minimal turbo lag.

If you don't want to wait for the 2014 Fiesta, you can check out our 2013 Ford Fiesta Brochure. Ford Motor Company Breaks Hybrid Vehicle Sales Record

WESTLAND, Mich.- Supplying an unprecedented customer demand for electrified vehicles, Ford Motor Company has broke its previous full-year hybrid sales record in just the first five months of 2013! And according to Ford's U.S. sales analyst, the success the automaker is experiencing with hybrids has energized the whole company!

With projected sales of 37,000 through May, Ford Motor Company broke its hybrid vehicle sales record of 35,496 vehicles back in 2010. That's an increase of over 375% over the same time last year! Thanks to the product strength of the automaker's electrified vehicle line up, Ford's market share has grown to an all-time-high 15.5%, making Ford second only to Toyota for the number of hybrid vehicles sold in the United States!

The Ford C-MAX Hybrid, Ford C-MAX Energi, Ford Fusion Hybrid, and Ford Fusion Energi have continued to draw new customers to the Ford brand from competitors like Toyota and Honda. In fact, the Ford Fusion Hybrid has been so popular, that dealers are having trouble keeping them on the lot. Attracting customers with its impressive fuel economy and new stylish design, the Fusion has a turn rate of just 14 days on average, and only 10 days in key markets like Los Angeles!

It's no secret that drivers are demanding improved fuel economy in today's vehicles. Ranked No. 1 in fuel economy customer satisfaction by J.D. Power, Ford is delivering what customers want without making them sacrifice design, technology, or comfort.

If you want the best of both worlds, fuel efficiency and stylish design, then come check out the New Ford Cars For Sale at our Plymouth Area Ford Dealership!
