New Shelby 1000 Practically Doubles the Horsepower of the GT500

WESTLAND, Mich.- Ford Mustang-lovers will be excited to see some of the new 1100 horsepower Shelby 1000 Mustangs hit the road and the track this year. The Shelby 1000 made its debut at the New York Auto Show on March 28, and will come in two different models: a “street” version and a track car. The 2013 Shelby 1000 Ford Mustang practically doubles the horsepower of the GT500—the street version will boast 950 hp using standard gas and the track Shelby will come ready to push out 1,100 horsepower when using racing fuel!

Shelby American, who are known for their custom-built Ford Mustangs, have achieved their most dominant aftermarket vehicle with the Shelby 1000, which is built starting with a stock 2013 Ford Mustang GT500.  The GT500, already the most powerful Mustang ever made by Ford Motor Company, is then completely reworked and the 5.8 liter, V-8 engine is supercharged to attain its tremendous horsepower. The chassis, suspension, brakes, cooling systems, and driveline all received substantial modifications to ensure super-high quality performance and handling.  The end result of these efforts is almost doubling the horsepower of the GT500 from and creating one of the most powerful muscle cars in history.

A limited number of 2013 Shelby 1000 Ford Mustangs will be built and Shelby American is accepting reservations for this powerhouse.
