Ford EcoBoost Reduces Emissions and Saves at the Pump

Ford EcoBoost Reduces Emissions and Saves at the Pump

WESTLAND, Mich.- 76% of Americans commute to work by car driving almost 50 minutes roundtrip. This makes buying a car a very important decision for a number of reasons. Fuel-efficiency is becoming more important because of rising energy costs and commuters are looking this more closely when picking out a new car. Ford’s EcoBoost engines are designed to maximize fuel-efficiency while reducing emissions—this results in less cost at the pump and less cost to the environment.

The EcoBoost concept involves direct injection of fuel into the combustion chamber with the exhaust being channeled into a turbine (instead of being wasted). This results in better fuel-economy, a reduction in CO2 emissions, and better engine performance. The EcoBoost Won “International Engine of the Year” for 2012 and will save you money at the pump.

There are a number of different Ford EcoBoost Engine configurations available. There is a 3-cylinder, a 4-cylinder, and a 6-cylinder. The EcoBoost is even becoming popular among Ford F-150-lovers. The V-6 version is an option on the Ford F-150, the 2012 Motor Trend "Truck of the Year," and creates 365 horsepower @ 5,000rpm and 420 pound-feet of torque—making it a popular option on this particular vehicle. The EcoBoost Engine is available on several Ford vehicles.
