Ford's concept car will be a preview of the kind of vehicle that they believe can be utilized in the Asia Pacific region. It will show what Ford believes as the future of the competitive compact-car segment in India and other up and coming markets.
Most people in the Indian culture prefer to drive cheaper, smaller, fuel-efficient vehicles. The country's roads are congested with traffic, and parking in big cities is a difficult process. Currently, the smallest vehicle Ford offers in India is the Figo hatchback. It has not been made clear if the new concept car will be a replacement or an additional product to the Figo. No innovative features have been released at this time.
Ford forecasts compact car sales to double from last year to roughly 2 million vehicles in 2018 in India. The demand for the Ford EcoSport, which was launched just last year, is already in very high demand. Ford Motor Company is hoping with the reveal of the New Compact Car Concept at the Indian Auto Show that they will be able to successfully merge into this progressive sector of the marketplace.
