These Fast Track Races are typically associated with the Boy Scouts. It's the building and designing of wooden block cars that race a track where the fastest car wins. These races rely on technical research, testing, and building to create the car. Ford Motor Company has partnered with Girl Scouts Councils in Northern New Jersey, Tropical Florida, Northeast Texas, and Southeastern Michigan. This particular program will facilitate 200 Brownies and 200 Juniors from each of the councils.
“Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas is excited to team up with Ford Motor Company, to inspire these members who are interested in science, technology, engineering and math,” said Jennifer Bartkowski, CEO Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas. “Girls need opportunities to expand their realm of what’s possible. Through this collaboration, girls will get to explore STEAM concepts and careers as they design, test and race their own cars.”
The Fast Track Race competition for the Southeastern Michigan Council is set to take place on October 15th in Rochester Hills, MI at the Oakland University Athletics Center O'Rena. We wish all the Girl Scouts participating in this competition the best of luck! As an organization that believes success is within the community, we can't think of a better way to expand young minds and lead them to change the world. We're amazed that Ford is empowering young minds with the Girl Scouts right in Southeast Michigan! You can get even more inspired by checking out the Ford STEAM Experience.
