So, what is the best way to deal with a pothole? Avoid it completely. Yes, we know that's easier said than done but if you know of a nasty pothole on your daily commute you could try finding an alternative route.

However, if you must drive over a pothole, the best way to go about it is to accelerate over it so the weight of the car is shifted to the rear. Your natural reaction is to hit the breaks, but the entire weight of the car is then shifted to the front and can result in more damage. Don’t get any ideas…We aren’t condoning speeding or unsafe driving, but physics play a major role in this situation. By gently accelerating instead of breaking, you greatly reduce the opportunity for damage.

Another Tip for How To Keep your Vehicle in Shape on Rough Roads is to be aware of pooled water on the road. Not only can pooled water cause a potential hydroplaning situation, but they also can conceal large and dangerous potholes.
